Chapter 12

Percy

I was really lucky to have a friend like Annabeth. Sure we'd met over a month ago but it feels like I've known her my whole entire life. I had never trusted any of my friends with that secret but I know that I can trust Annabeth.

After my little scene I washed up in the bathroom and went downstairs where Annabeth was waiting for me.

"You okay?" she whispers just loud enough for me to hear. I smile nodding. Annabeth was one of a kind. The party was still going, until Octavian shouted out

"MY PARENTS ARE COMING! I REPEAT, MY PARENTS ARE COMING! EVERYBODY CLEAN-UP AND HIDE!!!!" A lot of people (including me and Annabeth) started going home. What? I wasn't going to get risk getting caught. It was only 9, I wasn't going home yet.

"You hungry?"

"No not really." and right after she said that her stomach rumbled. I smirk and she blushes.

"I can take you too a great pizza place I know just around the corner. If you want to go."

"Not a date right?" she didn't want it to be a date? Did that mean she didn't like me or-

"Percy. You good?"

"Yeah I'm good. And don't worry it's not a date." I say although part of me wishing it were.

We arrived at the pizza place me and Rachel went to. We got a table and started looking at a menu.

"Would you like an appetizer?"

"No thanks."

"If you'd like we can share a pepperoni pizza, the pizza's are pretty big."

"Yeah sure." then the waitress came over.

"Percy funny finding you here again. Oh and this time with  Annabeth," she said with a smile on her face.

"Silena? I didn't know you worked here." Annabeth said.

"Well I do! What can I get ya'll today?"

"We'll share a pepperoni pizza."

"Okay and the drinks?"

"Iced tea please."

"And I'll have a Dr. Pepper please."

"All right. Coming right up." she leaves. Both me and Annabeth spoke about random things while we waited for our food. Once it did we finished it quite fast and after me and Annabeth's little argument about who should pay. I won. We decided we should take a little walk and we sat on a bench, just talking about so many things.

We'd joke around and before we knew it, it was already 11.  When I was dropping Annabeth off she fell asleep on the ride. I unbuckled her seatbelt and carried her bridal style and I closed the door with my knee. I walked up to her doorstep and used my foot to knock on the door. When that didn't work I used my forehead. Even though it was painful it worked. Mrs. Chase opened the door.

"Hello Mrs. Chase, Annabeth fell asleep. Is it fine if I carry her up to her bedroom?"

"Of course! Please come in." I go upstairs her bedroom and take her to her bedroom. I tuck her under the blanket and kiss her cheek before turning off the lights and exited her room. I say bye to Mrs. Chase and I head on home.

It was already Monday. Yay. Note the sarcasm. But next week is spring break so at least something to look forward to. And probably the game tomorrow. We had practice during school today thankfully during 3rd period. Which was now.

In 3...2...1..

"Can all students on the swim team report to the gym?"

Called it.

I stood up and got my swim bag an headed on over to the gym. Coach Hedge gave us a pep talk and we started practicing for the rest of the period.

Now was my chance. Was I going to lead my team to victory? Or not? I saw my friends and my family taking seats and I was going to win. For them.
Once again Coach Hedge started us off.
"3..2..1.. Go!"
And then we were off. We had to swim 15 laps and I was still in the lead.
All right Percy now make the school proud.

On the 15th lap me and the captain of the other team, Henry Bailey, we're now neck and neck the finish line just up ahead.
Think of the school. Think of school. I kicked harder and harder leaving Henry in the dust leading my team to victory. 

I got out of the pool and got handed a towel. As usual mom was the first to come running, her arms spread out. She engulfed me in a big hug. 

"I'm so proud of you!" she said as she let go from her grip smiling at me. I smiled back. I received side hugs, hugs, or fist bumps from other people who came to congratulate me. Coach Hedge was freaking out. He was going crazy. 

I said good bye to my friends and we headed home. Mom had a platter of blue cookies waiting on the dining table and I quickly went to them first. I grabbed two cookies once for each hand. What? You can never have too many blue cookies.

"Perseus! One at a time!" she said, my mouth full of cookies.

"I am, I'm eating the one in my right hand first and then eating the other in my left hand." I say already done with one of them.

"Save some for us!" Tyson said as he, Estelle, Paul, and mom grabbed a cookie. There was still one left on the cookie. I grabbed it but mom slapped it away.

"Finish the one in your hand first." I fit the whole cookie in my mouth and grab the last one.

"Done." but it probably sounded like 'Mph-um!' She rolls her eyes smiling.

"I am so proud of you Percy if you lead a victory in the finals you could get offered a scholarship!"

"Maybe." 

"But victory or not, I will always be proud of you." I smile and kiss her cheek before going to my room.

Annabeth

I was happy for Percy but I had my own problems. On Thursday was my first game. All my friends would be there to cheer me on and so will my family. I had been practicing a lot so I hope my team will win.

I had just finished changing and got into my uniform. I saw my friends waving me over. I go over to them.

"Good luck! I know you'll do well." Hazel said hugging me and I hug her back.

"Thanks Hazel." I got other hugs or side hugs from the others and when Percy hugged me he whispered in my ear 

"I know you'll do good, after all you're great at everything. Good luck wise girl." he let go of his grip and I blushed. The guys left to find a seat.

"Oooh what did he say?" Piper said.

"N-Nothing why?" I say looking down at my feet. They suddenly looked interesting.

"Cause you're as red as as strawberry." she said pointing at my face.

"No I'm not." 

"Uh huh. Sure."

"Oh wait they're calling me I got to go! See ya guys!" I ran off in a different direction and got ready for the game.
