The New Girl-Percabeth AU

Chapter 17

Annabeth

I was so surprised to see Percy downstairs and I was so happy to see him. Our eyes locked and I stopped mid way.

"Hey."

"Hey Percy. What are you doing here?" I quickly finished going down the staircase and ran up to him and gave him a hug. Too soon he pulled away.

"Percy, I missed you so much." 

"I missed you too." he smiles and I smile back giving him another hug.

"How about you two go upstairs and talk thing out. I'll be here if you need me." Helen said and we went upstairs. I closed the door behind us and he sat on the edge of my bed while I sat criss- crossed across from him. We stayed there in an awkward silence until we both said

"I'm sorry." 

"Why are you sorry?" 

"Stop copying me!" we both laugh.

"Annabeth." he took my hands "I'm sorry. I was a jerk to you and you didn't deserve it. I should've given you a chance to talk and I should've never treated you like that."

"I appreciate the apollogy but I should have been more clearer and I should've told you the truth."

He scrunches his eyebrows "What do you mean the truth?" 

"Percy there's something I haven't told you yet. I had a boyfriend before I moved to New york. His name was Luke Castellan. We'd been dating for about 4 months before I walked in on him kissing a different girl. I broke up with him 2 weeks before I moved to New york so I guess the break up was still fresh. I was still healing and then you told you liked me. I was being precautious Percy. I-I was scared that you'd hurt me the way he did and I wasn't taking that risk. But I like you Percy. I do but I just need some more time because I'm not ready for a commitment just yet. So maybe we can take things slow and we'll see where fate takes us." he nods slowly.

"All right. I understand that. And I will wait for you no matter how long it takes."

"Thanks Percy."

"Oh and by the way I went to see every one one of your games. But I'm sure you've noticed me tons of times." I chuckle.

"Yeah I have."

"So what does that make us now?"

"Friends. But maybe in the future more than friends." I smile.

"I'll be looking forward to that." me too.  We both grab a blue cookie and start eating. 

"Do you maybe want get some ice cream? My treat." Percy asked.

"Sure. But I can pay for my own ice cream." he shrugs.

"Maybe." we said goodbye to Helen and headed out the door.

"So Annabeth what do you want?" Percy asked.

"Vanilla in a cup please." 

"All right we'll have 1 vanilla in a cup and one blueberry in a cone please."

"Okay  13.56 dollars." he payed so quick I didn't even see him. We got our ice cream and sat outside.

"I am perfectly capable of paying for my own ice cream." 

"I know but this a 'sorry' kind of treat." he says licking his ice cream.

"I already forgave you."

"Yeah I know but it's the least I can do." we ate in silence for a few minutes.

"So do you have a date to the prom?" Percy asked.

"No I decided I wouldn't be going to prom."

"Why not?"

"I don't have a date. Are you going?"

"Just 'cause you don't have a date doesn't mean you can't go. I am going to prom dateless and I'll have a great time." I smile.

"Maybe I might, I mean if somebody asks me."

"You're a great girl I'm sure somebody will ask you soon." for the rest of the day we just caught up on things we missed over the past few months. Percy dropped me home.

"Wise girl I missed a lot." Percy blurted.

"I missed you too seaweed brain." I stand on my tip toes and kiss him on the cheek "A lot. I'll see you tomorrow kelp head."

"I'll see you tomorrow owl brain." I roll my eyes and he goes to his car and I go inside the house.

Percy

Once I went through the front door I found my mom watching tv. She noticed me and paused whatever she was watching.

"So what happened?"

"We made up and for right now we're only friends." I say.

"That's great! So did you ask her to prom?" she asked and I shake my head.

"She doesn't want to go to prom so I don't know, maybe." I say. "good night mum." I kiss her cheek and go to bed.

 1 week later

Annabeth

"Please go to prom." Piper pleaded.

"Nobody asked me so why should I?" I say.

"Because I heard Percy will ask you!" I looked at her like she was crazy.

"But we're just friends." she rolls her eyes.

"Friends who like each so give me one reason why he wouldn't ask you."

"Because he's the most popular guy in school. He probably has girls lining up to ask him to be their date." I reasoned.

"Believe what you want but I know he will ask." I roll my eyes.

"Whatever makes you sleep at night." 

"Oh here comes Percy. I got to go bye."

"Wai-"

"Hey wise girl."

"Hey seaweed brain. What's up."

" I was kind of wondering if you'd maybe want to go to prom with me?" Piper was right.

"Yeah sure, I'd love to go."

"Really? I thought you weren't going to prom."

"I was waiting for somebody asked." little did he know there were many guys who asked me to prom, I was just waiting for Percy to ask me.

"Great!" I was going to prom with Percy Jackson.
