"Okay, so. I need to talk to you guys." Cas took a deep breath while the chattering amongst his friends stopped. Charlie, Kevin, Garth, Gilda. It was the first break between their classes which meant they had not much time.
Exactly what Castiel needed. 'Cause if they took what came next the wrong way, he wouldn't have to put up with it as long as he would if they had lunch break. "It's serious."
"You failed your test," Kevin guessed.
"You killed your guinea pig," Garth tried.
"Are you pregnant?" Charlie.
And last and least, Gilda's assumption. "You finally found a sponsor to these shirts you wanted for you and your pathetic club mates."
Cas could throw his hands with these idiots. "I don't fail tests, Kevin, and no, Garth, I don't have a guinea pig and if I had one, I wouldn't kill it, but if you have one to offer, I'd gladly take it. Charlie... what the fuck, and Gilda, you are actually right, we did find a sponsor, but that was not my point."
Charlie sighed in disappointment. "Aw, man, I was so certain you were pregnant!"
Cas shook his head, amused. "I don't need to explain to you how – in a pure biological sense – men can't get pregnant, do I?"
"That's why she takes IT class, and not anything you need to be intelligent for" Kevin mouthed, and Charlie gave him an annoyed glance before she turned to Cas.
"Dude, tell that to all the fanfic authors out there who spend their time writing mpreg while researching ways to prove it with sci-fi."
"Charlie, aren't you one of those fanfic authors?", Gilda asked and Charlie shushed her.
"We don't need to bother innocent Cas with that!"
Cas watched the conversations starting again and furrowed his eyebrows. "Er, yeah, I could tell you something about that..." He unconsciously stroked the hickies on his neck from last night where Dean and he... had gotten experimental. "But we better don't go into that. I just wanted to make an official announcement so you all are informed and don't ask questions... so, it's about Dean and me."
He took a deep breath. There was no going back. "We're dating."
They had very different reactions. Gilda's eyes widened, and so did Kevin's, but he regenerated himself pretty fast and smiled – similar to Charlie, who was grinning from one ear to the other, looking as if she was about to explode. Only Garth seemed chill with the whole thing.
There was a brief silence in which Cas held his breath. "So... Nobody's saying anything? Okay, cool."
"What can I say, man?" Garth pushed himself off the wall he had been leaning against earlier. "I've known that forever. Wasn't I the one who's been saying it all along? Huh?"
He was right. Garth had been saying it all along. Although it had rather been to mock Cas, to make him feel uncomfortable, and they all knew that. However, Cas didn't want to bring that up and cause a fight that hadn't happened in weeks.
He was getting along with Garth pretty well. They both shared a good taste for books – well, while Cas was reading novels for teenagers and young adults, Garth preferred graphic novels, but many of those were known to Cas as well, so they had a topic to go to each morning.
Garth still didn't like the idea of him and Dean being so close, but from what he said, it was for Cas's own good. Because Dean was apparently "dangerous".
Knowing that that was probably right, and that he would ignore it nevertheless, Cas avoided that subject. And Garth did, too. Whenever it came up, it was obvious they had different opinions, but Garth wouldn't be mean about it anymore, and never drop malicious comments. And now, he even seemed happy for Cas, for his friend.
