*Author's note: Though the last chapter could've been a good ending (with a little lack of closure, but still a good ending), I have other plans for this story lol (nothing too scary or traumatizing, don't worry, I'm not that mean). So, for those who might be wondering, there are still a few chapters left to this story, but I wanted to inform you that it is coming to the end (I've been saying this for like ten chapters, but like, this time it's for real, there won't be more than like 55 chapters)
"Hey, guys," Zora and I say in sync as the videochat begins.
"Hey, girls," my brother replies at the same time as Blake asks, "How is my favorite girl?"
"I'm good, I miss you."
"We don't have much time today. It's almost dark and we barely just come back," Adam explains to us. "Hope you aren't filling my voicemail box like last time, Lian. It took me hours to go through each of them."
"Nah... I have another voicemail box to fill," I joke, and we all laugh. "Don't worry, Blake, I'm just kidding. I'm writing you both letters instead."
They look at each other, "Will you send them to us?" my boyfriend interrogates me.
I shake my head no. "You'll get them when you come back."

"Hey, baby," Blake tells me through the screen. "How was your day?"
"I got my result for that big exam I talked to you about last week."
"Right! You nailed it, didn't you?"
"I did," I smile proudly.
"God, I wish I could take you in my arms right now."
I look around, taking Kiko in my arms, "Look, someone wanted to say hi." I wave his small paw in front of the camera.
"He got so big," Blake notices.
"He did."

"Want to hear what happened today?" I ask him, trying to take his mind off of whatever has been going on that is bothering him right now.
"Sure, go ahead."
"I heard back from my lawyers. He got six years," I announce.
That was honestly more than I expected. People with sexual assault cases tend to get sentences that don't even give satisfaction to the victims. Of course, Rainer Hayes deserved more in my opinion, but six years really isn't that bad when you look at other cases.
"That's great, baby," he says, avoiding my eyes and sounding tired, exhausted even.
"What's wrong, Blake?"
He shakes his head, "It's nothing, I don't want to bother you."
"Oh, come on, Blake, you're not bothering me. Plus, I am the one who has been bothering you over video chat for the past three months."
"There was an incident earlier this week," he tells me, and my heart stops, thinking about how Zora was saying she hadn't received a call from Adam in the past few days.
"Is it Adam? Did something happen to Adam?" I start panicking, but he calms me with his reassuring voice.
"No, Adam is okay, he wasn't with us. But we almost lost a guy. It's been rough, but you're making everything better."
"I hate to see you like this. God, I miss you, you have no idea."
"I miss you too," he takes a look at his watch. "My time is over. We'll talk again soon, okay?"
"I'll be waiting for your call."

I take a sip of my white chocolate mocha as I listen to Zora talking to me about her teacher of medical law. How creepy he is. How he stares into your soul when you ask a question and makes you feel stupid if the answer turns out to be obvious. Personally, I got amazing teachers this semester, but I feel for Zora, she has a tendency of getting the worst ones.
It had been a while since we had seen each other to do something else than study or talk about the guys or to the guys. It's good to finally have some good time and not to think about any military related or school related stuff.
"I was thinking about going to Germany for Spring break," Zora announces out of nowhere, and I have to admit, I don't understand this sudden interest in going to Germany. Precisely. She didn't talk about Europe, she said Germany.
"Why Germany?"
"I heard this article about families going to Europe to spend time with their soldier sons, boyfriends, husbands... during their leave. And I asked Adam, they're getting a leave right when it's Spring break, and he said they would be able to get there. To Germany."
"Wow. I mean, I've always wanted to go to Europe, and Germany looks beautiful, and there is so much history to discover there. Would we even get time to visit?"
"The boys are getting only a few days, but I was thinking we could spend the whole week. You and me, girl's trip until they join us."
"Are we really doing this?"
"You don't have a choice. I already bought the plane tickets."
I roll my eyes. Of course, she did. "Zora, I don't have that kind of money right now. My parents are already helping me so much with school fees, and I barely make enough money at the coffeehouse to go on a two-days trip to another state."
"Don't you worry, you don't owe me a thing. It's all handled," she assures me, but it's too much and I can't accept it. Can I?
