Several carriages are seen being moved by servants of aristocratic families of the Soul Society, and as they are doing their duty, nearby some Soul Reapers are observing the situation.
Rangiku arrives.
Rangiku: Now remember, you all must stay alert, that nothing happens on this assignment.
Soul Reaper: Affirmative, Lieutenant Matsumoto. But, I must ask, what exactly are we guarding? The Oin right? All I know is that we're supposed to take care of it. Who is ordering us again?
Rangiku: All I know is that it's a treasured artifact. The Royal Family ordered us to use it. It's got the power of magic.
Soul Reapers: Really?
Rangiku: Oh come on. Do you really expect me to know that much? I know that we have to guard it. Just keep a good eye out for anything suspicious.
Soul Reapers: Yes Ma'am!
At the same time...
Rangiku goes to report to Toshiro, who was watching from above.
Toshiro: Well Rangiku?
Rangiku: Don't worry Captain, everything is fine as is!
Toshiro: Why must everything involving royalty be so fancy?
Rangiku: And this is why I don't invite you to any parties, you're no fun.
Toshiro: OH SHUT UP!!
As they continue to converse, a burst of lightning hits one of the carriages!!
Toshiro: Alert the others!
Rangiku: I'm on it!!
Several bursts of lighting and flames appear to attack the Soul Reapers, greatly injuring them!
Rangiku: What the?
A cloth extends and grabs onto her Zanpakuto, Heineko!
Rangiku: GROWL HEINEKO!
It turns to ash and she manages to avoid the lightning!
The flames begin to attack some others, but Toshiro pushes them back!
Toshiro: Who are you? Identify yourself!
The figure disappears.
As Toshiro starts searching, he notices a man with a mask, and a grey cloak.
Toshiro: Who are you?
He pulls out a Zanpakuto and attacks.
Toshiro blocks, and-
Masked Man: You haven't changed at all, Hitsugaya.
Toshiro: SHOW YOURSELF!
He tries to pull off the mask, but he begins to run!
Rangiku: Captain?! Are you okay?! What's g-
Toshiro then disappears.
Soul Reapers: Lieutenant! What's going on? We can't find the Oin! I- What's wrong?
On another hand... between Karakura Town and New Tokyo...
Ichigo was out performing his duties as Substitute Soul Reaper, until he began to sense something funny.
Ichigo: What the? Just what we need. Someone starting trouble close to my house.
He slashed at the area with Zangetsu and sees the bodies.
