Den x Mermaid!Reader

[Hear me out. I love appreciating the smaller characters I happen to fall for. Den from Fish-man Island is one of them. Also you're OLDER. he's 67 lmao. I'm just such a simp for den help.]

You were laying on the sea-forest floor, eyes closed as you somewhat meditated.

Den was working on coating the ship while Franky was discovering you for the first time.

"Hey, pretty lady. You should get up." He grins, holding a hand out to you.

Den raises a brow and looks over, a smile soon back on his face as he shakes his head. You.

Franky lifted you up, setting you on his shoulder while you just smiled smugly. You were proud of how lazy you were.

Den placed a bubble on your hips, and watched as you went around, looking at the ships coating. "Missed a spot." You said with a grin.

He returned that grin of yours and covered it. "Thanks for telling me."

"Mhm..!"

You began talking with Franky, exchanging many words with him as Den and yourself waited for luffy and his crew.

You were in dens arms after your bubble popped, smiling at jinbe.

He was staring at you with some kind of curiosity, wondering why you were so comfortable in Den's arms.

Your tail flicked every so often, hitting against Den's affectionately.

He just carried you without question while the strawhats conversed with the sea warrior.

You yawned, curling up against him as his hand trailed along your back.

Luffy looked at your firey rainbow tail, and was immediately in awe, jumping over to mess with it.

You flicked his face with a tired, annoyed grunt, and flopped onto a bubble.

Luffy continued poking your tail, laughing as he looked at your expression.

You had a small smile on your face as you looked at luffy. "Wanna hear a story, luffy?" You ask, letting him sit on the bubble with you.

Everyone gathered around, even jinbe, to listen to what you had to say.

You slipped off the cover up you had on, showcasing the sun that decorated your whole stomach. That must hurt.

You sighed with a smile, and hummed, "Listen, back when I was a slave to the celestial dragons, I had one job, to serve and take care of my master. This included bathing, feeding..and many other things." You said with disgust.

"Now, as an older mermaid, I can have legs- and they took advantage of that." You hummed.

"I was presented as the most beautiful human slave- which is such a lie- but whatever- and I was bidded for about 2 billion belli before I finally was bailed by Fisher Tiger." You hummed, smiling fondly as you spoke about that man.

"So selfless...he was, I miss him everyday." You look at the 'sky' of the sea forest, frowning.

"He was my rock, the one person who understood that I was in pain, and so I became apart of the sun pirates, covered my mark, and abandoned all i knew to sail with them." You laughed, and looked at jinbe.

"Sometimes I miss those days, I don't know how you still do it though." Jinbe leaned forward as you pressed a hand against his cheek.

"Big sister.." he murmured under his breath, "I wish you'd come breathe the fresh air up there with me again."

You look over at den, who approved. "Only if I can tag along." He hummed, running his hands through your hair. "I'd love to see Franky grow in my brother's place."

Luffy beamed at the decision, "Y/n- does this mean you'll join my crew?!"

"You've been asking for so long luffy..." you sigh, and give him a small smile. "Maybe...I'll travel with you for a little bit." Your lazy eyes slightly widened when luffy tackled you into a sweet hug.

Den shook his head as he looked down at you, the woman he absolutely loved and adored with all his heart. Den didn't know how he got someone as strong yet lazy as you, but he was happy that you were were him.

You stretched your tail out, splitting it into two as den wrapped a black skirt around your lower half.

Humming in approval, you placed your- fin- well- now  feet on the floor.

Luffy gasped as they all remembered Kokoro, some of them groaned in grotesque, while you just chuckled at their faces.

"Mm... yeah, feels nice to stretch." You hummed, chuckling softly as Den ran his hands up and down your waist. 

"Mm.." you cracked your neck, and trekked your way over to grab your little sack of things.

"Lets go then."

It had been about a few months since your journey began with everyone, and jinbe was happy that you had joined luffy.

You were rubbing water along your tail, sanji tending to your every need as you all relaxed on the Dock of dressrosa.

Den was sitting next to you, a smile on his face as you leaned against him, "its just how I remember it... the sea."

Den rubbed your arm, "yeah? Reminds you of your adventures?"

"Yeah, the sun pirates were...something." You said with a laugh, pressing a kiss to his cheek.

"I just love you, den." You hummed.

He couldn't help but chuckle, "I just love you too.."
