CHAPTER 15

"What's her name?" Miko asked.

"I don't know, she just... dozed off," I said as I prepared food for her that Miko cooked. It was her favorite food, which is fried tofu.

"And... go ask her, look at her dozing off at the table, she clearly doesn't know what situation is she in," Miko sighed.

I sighed and grabbed the plate with fried tofu on it along with the rice and went to the kid who was almost asleep. I poked her head, which she was startled but looked at me with her sleepy eyes. She must've been so tired. "Want to eat?"

She nodded cutely. That's the first time I thought of a kid who's cute. I placed the plate in front of her and she just ate it slowly, but her face was clearly beaming, as if it was her first meal.

"So," I said as I sat down in the chair near her. "What's your name?"

"S-sayu," she said in a low voice. I suppose it is...weird that she ended up in a stranger's house. It's better not to scare her, poor kid.

"Well, you see, kid. I saved you from... passing away," I said. "And you said to me your parents died," I added. "If you're in a better state, tell me if you remember the faces of the culprits who...killed your parents,"

"I-i know where they are," she said. "I am a werewolf. My parents had a debt to them but they couldn't pay it, so...they got killed because of that, "she said, and she was about to cry, but I immediately patted her head and I looked at her sweetly. I smiled at her. "Don't worry, you can stay here for the mean time, and as for those culprits, you will lead me to them, and I'll handle them."

Those bastards will pay. What's more, they are my kind.

"W-who are you, Miss?" She asked as she looked at me with those sleepy eyes again. I smiled at her, "Raiden Ei, and that woman over there is my girlfriend, Yae Miko," I said as I pointed to Miko, who was leaning on the island table, and she waved and smiled at us.

"T-thank you... for saving me. I don't know how to pay you, "she said as she looked down. This kid... she really went through a lot of things that are not really for kids.

"Don't worry, kid. You can stay here as long as you want and you will be safe," I said. "But before that, I'm sorry... if my kind did that to your parents, I'm one of them. A vampire,"

"I-it's fine. You were not the one who did it to my parents, you're just another vampire," she mumbled.

I chuckled because of it. This kid is cute! It is such a shame she faced some traumatic experiences. "Finish eating your food. I will just talk about something to Miko, okay?" And she nodded.

I walked to Miko and she looked at me, clearly saying something. "Let's adopt her,"

To my surprise, that's what I thought too. This kid is homeless and there is nowhere else she can go to. She might die in the world out there.

"Alright, my love. I will ask Ayato to fix the paper work and she'll be our daughter," I smiled at her as I pulled her to me and hugged her waist. "Her name is Sayu,"

"Sayu, what a cute name," she giggled. 

"Tomorrow, we'll leave and find those bastards who killed her parents. I'm ashamed that my kind are doing some... stupidity,"

After that talk earlier, I kind of went to fix one of the rooms in our house to make it Sayu's room. It was a bit... dusty, but I managed to clean all of it, and while I was cleaning, Miko and Sayu were playing and enjoying things like watching a TV show or playing a game.

Miko really looked happy, and it was a sight to see.

I finished cleaning the room after an hour and it really looks perfectly fine. Although I need to buy some stuff for Sayu, my daughter, I mean, my soon-to-be daughter.
