xxxv. the denial

All Arthit did last night was cry– with his broken heart, aching head, and the negative thoughts in his head worsening by each second. Last night, he held onto his phone tight, ignoring his friends' worried calls and messages focused on reminiscing his moments together with Kong. 

He was checking the messages he shared with Kong and K... And had to sneer at himself at how smiliar they were... and stupid Arthit because how couldn't he have known?

Arthit was also on the verge of calling Kong last night to call him– beg him to tell Arthit that everything he found last night was a fraud. That Kong's real. Kong wouldn't intentionally do a vile thing to Arthit. That's not who the younger is. Arthit knew him and he trusted him.

Maybe K did his suggestion and just pretended to be Kong because he saw how Arthit was hurting when Kong left.

Maybe the real Kong was still out there somewhere, still not back beside Arthit... Maybe if Arthit could just find him again, they would be happy again... 

Maybe...

His eyes felt heavy today and his head still slightly aching but he still went to work because he knew they'd be busy with the addition in the management.

Kongpob Suthilak.

Arthit gritted his teeth and the hold around his pen tightening being reminded of that cruel guy again. He didn't know he could hate and distrust someone as much as he felt over Kongpob.

Kongpob did the impossible to him. Made Arthit initially hate him through K, made Arthit fell in love with him through Kong, made Arthit considered him as a great friend through K's grown development, and hate him again through Kongpob. 

Speaking of Kong... Arthit didn't know if they're still together... Were they even together in the first place when Kong didn't exist?

The thought that someone destined for Arthit like Kong not existing brought another lurch in his stomach and a painful ache in his heart. He shook his head, he didn't want to believe it. All their moments together, their memories, and the love they have for each other– they were all real in Arthit's head and in his heart. 

Yesterday, all Arthit could think of was to finish the event earlier so he'd eat with Kong and sleep with him again. Arthit was ready to take the next step with him... but now, he found out his boyfriend was only created for a disguise. 

Arthit bit his lower lip when he felt another surge of tears wanting to burst out. He sniffed and shook his head. From beside him, Knot patted his shoulder and went back to work, a simple gesture to let Arthit know Knot's beside him in case Arthit needed him. 

Arthit patted Knot's hand and gave him a grateful smile. He's thankful that his friends hadn't forced him to talk about what happened last night. They knew just how much he's affected by Kongpob's betrayal and they respected his silence. 

That's what Arthit needed the most right now. He needed their support without being asked first because even he couldn't fully understand what's happening. 

A part of him knew but didn't want to accept yet. Arthit's still hoping for a miracle that this was all just a dream.

The silence in the place was broken when Khun Danai walked in with Kongpob in tow, the new C.O.O. Arthit quickly stood up to greet the two. He's angry at the guy but Kongpob's still his boss and Arthit's a professional through and through although there were many reasons to disrespect him now.

Khun Danai smiled at them, ever the kind man that he is. "You already met the C.O.O. when he worked with you. On the way here, he's telling me that he's very honored to have the chance to work with you, he loved your department."
