When my alarm rang at eight this morning, the only thing I'd wanted to do was going back to sleep. Eight isn't really an early hour you would think. Well, it isn't, except when you went to sleep at five in the morning and only had three hours of sleep. I should have thought of that before agreeing to spend the night with the Pogues yesterday. It always ends the same. When I try to go home at reasonable time, JJ or John B always find a way to make me stay and I end up going home when the sun starts to rise.

However, as much as I wanted to close my eyes again and fall back in my dreams, I knew I couldn't. I offered to help Anna and Mike at the Wreck today after hearing Kie's mom and mine talk about how exhausting the work was for the Carrera's at the restaurant with all the tourists coming during summer. While she never asked for help, Kiara had seemed very relieved and happy when I told her I'll second her as a waitress. During the last days, she still found time to hang out with us, but I couldn't help but notice the dark circles forming under her sleepy eyes.

Once dressed and fully prepared, I went downstairs to grab some snacks before heading to the Wreck. In the kitchen, I found Mom drinking her coffee while reading a book. When her eyes rose from the pages to me, she smiled

"It's really nice of you to help Anna and Mike. She told me again on the phone yesterday that she was pretty relieved to have some backup. Even with Kiara also taking orders, she's having a hard time juggling between the kitchen, the bar and the room." She said.

"It's nothing really. I'm glad I can offer my help somewhere. Plus, it's Auntie Anna and Uncle Mike, I'm happy to work with them. And it also means spending more time with Kie." I replied to her, grabbing a little bottle of water from the fridge.

After checking a couple times that I hadn't forgotten anything, I said goodbye to Mom and headed to the front door. "Say hello to Joy for me if you see her before going to work!" Mom's reply echoed right before the front door closed behind me.

About ten minutes after I put the contact, I parked my Jeep behind the familiar restaurant. When I stepped in the Wreck, I was welcomed by three bright smiles coming from the Carrera's, all sat at a table near the bar.

"Hi!" I greeted them with the same smile and a wave of the hand.

"Hello sweetie! We weren't expecting you so soon." Anna told me, wrapping her arms around me in a nice hug.

A confused frown crossed my face. I checked the clock hanging on one of the walls. Quarter to ten. "I'm confused" I started, as Anna released her embrace. "Didn't we agree to meet at ten?"

"We did, we did. Don't worry." Mike's voice sounded from the table he was at. "We said ten to be sure you would be here at eleven. But you seem way more punctual than our daughter here." He added, giving a nudge to Kiara. The girl rolled her eyes which made me chuckle.
