"You're going on a date with Kelce ?!" JJ yelled and I was sure we heard him to the other end of the island.

"C'mon, Kelce is a nice guy." I sighed. "And it's not a date. We'll just hang around the Thornton Club, nothing more." I tried to defend myself.

I looked at my other friends for a little help but it seemed that I was on my own. John B and Sarah were watching the whole scene like it was some telenovela episode, Kie just shrugged at me and Pope was too engrossed in his comic book to really pay attention to what was going on.

"But we don't like him!" JJ argued.

I rolled my eyes. "Speak for yourself, man. Kelce is cool when he's not with Cameron and Topper." John B finally spoke. "You even told him that at the bonfire!"

"I was drunk." My blonde friend shrugged. John B raised his hands in surrender at the stubbornness of his best friend. "Okay, fine. He's cool. But he's still a Kook." JJ crossed his arms.

"And what am I?" I asked rhetorically. "A mermaid?". JJ didn't say anything. "Plus, it's not like I've already dated the Kook King himself..." I muttered more to myself.

JJ's face softened. "Lex, I'm sorry. But you never accepted a date from any of us and now you're going out with another Kook!" He pouted.

"Well, you never asked." I replied with a shrug.

My answer surprised him because I noticed his face turning to me with squared eyes. I also caught Pope's gaze rising from his book to us, probably thinking the conversation became attention worthy. Unfortunately, I could not continue to entertain them.

"On that note, I must leave you. I need to go to my NON-date." I declared, standing up and ruffling JJ's hair on the way to my car. I left them all laughing and teasing JJ while I left the Chateau.

I arrived at the Thornton Club almost at the same time as Kelce. The sun was high in the sky and there was no sign of possible clouds. A good afternoon in perspective. Kelce greeted me with a big smile. He was wearing a yellow polo shirt with some white shorts. I would lie if I didn't say he was really good-looking.

"Lexi, look at you! You're stunning!" He complimented me.

I rolled my eyes but couldn't hide my blushing cheeks and flattered smile. "I thought it was not a date, meaning no seduction attempt?" I said at last.

"It's not. I'm just stating facts." He replied, his hands raised in surrender.

I chuckled lightly. "So, what's the program? You know how much I hate golf, right?"
