Since last night, Leo hasn't said a word. Hasn't made a single noise. He's just been deadly silent. Why? He was scared. No, terrified. He was terrified that if he made one noise, he would end up killing the ones he loved. Deputies tried to talk to him but he would say anything. Just stare into space. He also started having panic attacks, thinking he was still in that moment. So far, he's had 5 since last night. Currently, he was sat at his desk, on his computer. He was trying to look up any information on sirens.

He clicked on a website and read the title of the paper.

The First Sirens

Written by Gabriel Valack

In Greek mythology, the sirens were humanlike beings with alluring voices.

Generally, they are depicted as beautiful women with the tails of fish, but they can also be shown as scary, humanoid creatures with sharp teeth for tearing apart humans. Sirens are known for luring in sailors with their enchanting songs and then killing them.

Half-birds, half beautiful maidens, the Sirens were singing enchantresses capable of luring passing sailors to their islands, and, subsequently, to their doom. Daughters of the river god Achelous and a Muse, they were fated to die if anyone should survive their singing. When Odysseus passed them by unharmed, they hurled themselves into the sea and were drowned.

It was said that the Sirens were fated to die if any mortal should hear them sing and live to tell the story. So, once Odysseus passed them unharmed, disheartened by their humbling defeat, the Sirens hurled themselves into the sea and bothered no man ever again.

But not many know of the first sirens to ever exist. The river god, Achelous, wanted children that weren't bound to the water and were strong enough and fast enough to live on land and protect themselves. So, he used clay and remains of humans to create his children. He also added some of his own blood. The First Sirens. But, they weren't as he expected them to be. They had the features of a human (face, head, body, arms and legs) but they had pale skin, hollow eyes and a fused mouth.

Although, they could speak, but their voices were disoriented. They could only survive by consuming human flesh. These sirens could still shape shift, luring their victims and then consuming their flesh to survive. According to legend, these sirens were mainly males than females. So when hunting, it was mainly the females luring their victims.

Eventually, these sirens were discovered and started to be hunted. But, these sirens had the ability to read minds, share thoughts, create physic links and remove memories. The sirens used these abilities to hide from the humans. Achelous' blood had given them these abilities. Powers of the river god. Achelous saw that his children were nearly wiped out. So, he made a choice. Let them be killed and lose his children, or lock them away. Before he could make his choice, only one was left. Achelous couldn't stand to see his last remaining child to be killed, so, he locked her away using Ancient Bronze.

Ancient Bronze is a weakness towards these sirens. If stabbed with the metal, they are severely injured and cannot heal themselves. If the metal is in fine filings, humans would consume them when they ate, poisoning their flesh. Another weakness towards these sirens is mirrors. It is said that mirrors are the only way to reveal the siren's true identity. After the last siren was locked away, Achelous decided to create new children. Children that looked more human and this is where the half bird, half human sirens start.
