Dread Doctors' Operating Theatre

Liam is still on the floor. A device is attached to his arm with a thick tube running into his skin. Hayden is face down on an operating table as the doctors work around her. An alarm sounds and The Pathologist walks to a large liquid-filled cylinder with a body inside, takes a syringe and removes some of the liquid. At the examine table The Geneticist uses an ultraviolet light to examine Hayden's skin. A scale-like pattern glows blue under the light. "Her condition worsens." The Surgeon said. "Stop! Stop hurting her! Stop hurting her!" Liam shouted. The Pathologist kicks him in the head.

The Surgeon walked over to where Leo was still unconscious. He examined the hole in Leo's head. "Operation successful." The surgeon said. The Pathologist dumps Hayden on the floor near Liam and the liquid-filled cylinder. He crawls to her. She has a black goo covered wound on her abdomen. He grabs her hand to try to take away her pain. It doesn't work. Hayden tries to help Liam removing the large tube from inside his arm. Black liquid pours from the tip once it is removed. The Pathologist shows up and injects Hayden in the neck. While the Geneticist aims a needle at Liam's forehead.

Later

Hayden and Liam awake in a different part of the lair. There is a doorway blocked by chain link fencing. "Hayden? Hayden, wake up." Liam said. "Where are we?" Hayden asked. "I don't know." Liam said. He started approaching the fence. "Careful!" Hayden said. Liam grabs the fence and gets a shock. "Sorry, I probably should have warned you..." a voice said. Liam and Hayden looked over and saw another teen in the room. "Who are you?" Liam asked. "My name's Zach. And I think the better question is... what am I?" Zach said. Hayden and Liam looked at him cautiously.

"It's okay. I'm just like you-- one of the experiments. Hey, maybe you could help me with something. The guys in the masks? They took something off my back. I don't know what it was, but I can feel part of it still there." Zach said. "You want us to look?" Liam asked. "Is that okay?" Zach asked. When he lifts up his shirt there are bloody stumps sticking out of his shoulder blades. They twitch back and forth like hummingbird wings. He pulled his shirt back down. "It can't be any worse than him over there." Zach said. Liam and Hayden looked over and saw Leo on the ground.

"Oh, my god. Leo." Liam said, rushing over. When he got closer, he saw that he had blood on his head. When he crouched down next to the older teen, the sight almost made him throw up. Leo had a hole in his head. "What did they do to him?" Liam asked. "Who knows? Why are they doing any of this?" Zach asked. Liam heard groaning and saw Leo waking up. Leo felt pain in the side of his head and gently touched the side of his head and felt a hole. Leo started crying from the pain. He tried to sit up but he felt drained. "Let me help." Liam said. Leo looked up at him relieved. "Liam." Leo said. Liam helped him sit up and lean against the wall behind him.

Leo was breathing heavily as he looked around. "Where are we?" Leo asked. "We don't know." Hayden said. Leo sniffed as he wiped his tears. "I'm so tired." Leo said, eyes starting to feel droopy. "No. Leo, stay awake." Liam said. Leo opened his eyes. "Yeah. Ok." Leo said. Liam looked at the hole in his head. "How bad does it hurt?" Liam asked. Leo, through the pain, gave him a glare. "Right. Stupid question." Liam said. Leo hummed in agreement. "I'm surprised you haven't bled to death yet." Zach said. Leo looked over at him. "Who are you exactly?" Leo asked. "Zach." Zach said. "Okay, Zach. I'm guessing your one as well. A chimera?" Leo said. Zach nodded. "Good to know." Leo said.

Later

Liam tries the gate again and gets another shock. "ARGH! Ugh!" Liam groaned. Zach laughs. "We're not getting out of here." Zach said. "You could be a little optimistic." Hayden said annoyed. "It's kinda hard when you watch three people get dragged out of here screaming." Zach said. "What happened to 'em?" Leo asked quietly. "They were failures. That's all they said. First, you forget-- you don't know who you are or what you're doing. Then, you get violent-- I watched two of them almost kill each other. One of them had a nasty looking cut, just like that." Zach said, looking at Hayden.

Hayden looked at wound. "Don't worry. Black is okay. It's only really over when you start bleeding other stuff. When it starts turning silver..." Zach said. "Mercury..." Liam said. "That's when they know you're really a failure." Zach said. "How many more failures are there supposed to be?" Liam asked. "Who knows? But doesn't it make you wonder what the success is going to look like? I mean, what are we turning into? Something with claws and fangs?" Zach asked. "Something with wings?" Liam asked. "Something worse..." Hayden said. "Something deadly..." Leo said.

Later

Leo, Liam, Hayden and Zach were all sat in silence when Zack's nose begins to drip silver. "They're coming." Zach said. He stared at the silver lining on his finger. "Oh, God!" Zach said panicked. The Pathologist comes and drags him out. "No, no, no, no! No! NO!" Zach said. Liam tries to get up to help but is held in place by some unseen force and is unable to rise. "Help me! Help me! No! No! Wait! No! Help me!" Zach begged as he was dragged away. The fence closed behind him and Leo sighed. "We're going to die down here." Leo said. He then groaned in pain as the wound in his head starting feeling worse every second.

A few minutes later, Liam, Leo and Hayden hear the doctors returning. "They're coming back." Liam said. "Leo? Liam? Hayden?" A voice called out. "Theo?" Leo asked. Theo rushes in and right into the electrified fence. "Theo, wait! Don't!" Liam shouted. Theo got electrocuted by the fence. "Theo? Theo? Theo, you all right?" Leo asked from his spot on the floor. "Yeah... Yeah, I'm fine." Theo said. "You think you can get help?" Liam asked. "I am the help." Theo said. Once he comes around, he grabs the gate with both hands, the electricity courses around his body but he manages to force the gate open in a shower of sparks. Liam helped Hayden up as Theo rushed over to Leo and helped him up if the ground.

Theo saw the hole in his head. "You need to go to the hospital." Theo said. Leo shook his head lightly. "Scott. Get me to Scott." Leo said, groaning. Theo nodded and helped guide Leo, Liam and Hayden out of the Dread Doctors' lair.

Later ~ on the road

Theo drives Leo, Hayden and Liam away from the lair. Leo was sat in the front with Theo and Hayden and Liam were sat in the back. Hayden's wound is not healing. "It still hurts?" Liam asked. "Everywhere. I'm not healing, not like it did before. That means I'm a failure, doesn't it?" Hayden asked. Confused on what to do, Liam pucks up the courage to kiss her in hopes it calms her. "It's gone... The pain's gone. How did you do that?" Hayden said. "I don't know." Liam said. In a turn of events Liam successfully siphons Hayden's pain from the kiss. They continue to kiss passionately as Theo drives them to the Mccall's house.

Later ~ McCall House

Scott returns home. Liam and Hayden are on the couch. Scott hugs Theo for a long time. "Leo's upstairs. He needs your help." Theo said. Scott rushed upstairs and saw Leo on his bed, whimpering in pain. "Leo?" Scott asked worried. He rushed over and saw the hole in Leo's head. "Please make it stop." Leo pleaded. Scott grabbed Leo's hand and started to siphon away Leo's pain. Leo started to relax and felt the pain disappear. He looked up at Scott and smiled weakly. "Thank you." Leo said. Scott smiled at him. Leo fell asleep a few seconds later and Scott stared at the hole in Leo's head. He went into Leo's bathroom and got a bandage out. He placed it on Leo's head gently before leaving Leo's room, letting him rest.
