"Luz?" Amity went to open the window and Luz entered. She looked around and Amity folded her arms.
"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be sleeping?"
Luz looked at her and raised an eyebrow. She laughed and sighed.
"I should be the one asking you that, top student. I only came here to check up on you. Isn't that what neighbours do?"
Amity felt a little disappointed to be called just a neighbor, but she shook that away from her mind. Amity sat back down on the bed, and Luz sat on the floor.
"I was helping my cousins with their assignments... More or less, doing their assignments for them."
Amity didn't reply. Luz stood up and went to the other side of the bed, and saw Amity looking at her. She blushed a little but looked at Amity.
"What's wrong?"
Amity sighed and sat on the bed.
"It's him. Zander."
Luz wanted to speak, but no words came from her mouth. She knew that something was definitely wrong in their relationship. It wasn't normal, and Luz felt like something had to be done.
"Amity." Luz went to her and held her hand.
Amity blushed a little, but looked into Luz's eyes. She saw sincerity in them and sighed, thinking that she would trust her.
"Zander called me and-"
Before Amity could start talking, they paused. They heard a sound as it was slowly turning louder as it came towards its point.
It was an arrow, and there was a message stuck to it. Luz told Amity to stay on the bed and to not move a bone. She went to check the paper being tied on the arrow.
"Come 2 us nd your family will be spared."
She read aloud and Luz looked at Amity. Amity immediately turned her face away in pain and Luz stood up to meet her.
But another arrow came into the room, and went directly into Luz's arm.
"Ow." Luz turned and saw a person outside who was floating and used a dark green hoodie to cover himself.
She removed the arrow from her hand and threw it away. A taint of blood spilled on the floor and Luz went forward to the floating person.
"Who are you, and why are you threatening her?"
"Her family has destroyed this town. We know that her mother and father treasure her more than their other children. We want to teach them how it feels to take people away from us."
Luz raised an eyebrow and looked at Amity, then looked at the man who was floating. It seemed that Amity didn't have only one problem, but two.
"Excuse me, take people away? Are they the cause of the murder cases?"
Luz went straight to the point but the man shook his head. She clicked her tongue in annoyance, thinking that she would get a clue.
"But their family is the cause of people suffering. When they always use their business as a way to take people's money away from them, even use items to make people work for them."
"So that's what he meant by taking people away from them."
Luz looked at Amity who was scared. She gave her a sign to calm down and stay there. Luz went to the man and started to float.
"How? Aren't you a human?"
He asked in confusion, but Luz dodged the question.
"Let's make a deal, yeah? I'll help you with that part of the situation and you'll give me some information in exchange."
As she said this, Amity gasped and knew that she was not the person to trust. Immediately this was all over, she was going to ignore her - ignore her like she never even existed.
"What information?"
"Information about the murder cases. Trust me, I might be a kid but I know my ways through things. Just don't bother her again and everything will be alright."
He nodded to the agreement and he left. Luz entered the room again, but Amity told her to get out.
"Hey, I saved your life. A single thanks would be appreciated."
"How should I thank you when you put my family in danger!?"
She screamed and Luz was taken aback. She saw how her hands were shaking in fear and how tears almost started to fall from her eyes.
"He was right. I'm the treasured child in this family and I used to hely my parents with their sketchy business. Because of that, a family knew our secrets and my mother forced me to marry the son of their family to keep their secret after I've graduated from Hexside. Zander is the son of that family."
Luz started giggling and holding in her laugh. Amity was at the very brim of crying her heart out, but she got irritated at the fact that the problems she was sharing with someone was found funny to her.
"Sorry to say, but your parents are fucking funny. They forced you, the youngest child to marry a literal piece of shit for their business secret?"
"I swear, it's like all their lives they haven't heard that all truth comes to light. They really skipped English class."
Luz kept on laughing, she even started to roll on the floor because of how funny it was to her. Amity folded her arms, sighed and shook her head in disappointment.
Luz cleaned her tears of laughter and stood up. She saw Amity frowning, thinking deeply of the deal that she msde with the stranger.
"You're thinking of the deal I made with him?"
Amity nodded and Luz smirked.
"Amity, Amity, Amity." She shook her head in disappointment and sighed.
"Did I ever tell him that I would help him with the whole of the situation? I also didn't specify what part of his situation."
Amity's eyes widened at the sentence and she looked at Luz with amazement.
"Of course, your family's secret will come to light, but things are definitely to happen in the future."
Amity gasped, still in amazement of what she said.
"But how were you able to make your words so convincing, but yet not true?"
"It's called being nefarious and suave."
