Chapter 24.

Finally, it was morning.

Luz woke up and made a great yawn and opened the windows. She saw the sun shining, as if it was smiling upon the whole town.

She would usually start off the day with making coffee but no, this was another person's house. She sighed and picked up her phone.

"Is this a school day or not..?"

She switched on her phone for her to see it was a Monday, and it was 8:12.

"Oh fuck."

She immediately went to the bed and started to shake Amity gently, telling her to wake up.

"5 more minutes..." She said while she was still sleeping adorably.

"It can't be 5 more minutes when it's 8:14am in the morning!"

Amity immediately jumped and her eyes widened.

She opened her closet and brought out her uniform and ran to the bathroom.

Luz was taken aback by how quick she stood up. She discarded that thought and left the room, back to her house.

Luz knocked on the door and opened it. Max slowly turned his face scarily and Luz was horrified. He has eye bags that Luz never had before, his eyes looked like there was no life in them and he looked pale.

"When I meant you should investigate, I didn't mean to the extent you'd look like a zombie!"

Max stood up and slowly walked to her.

"I was just thinking of how to reduce your stress. I know how much you want to leave this realm as soon as possible and-"

"That doesn't call for you to sacrifice your sleep and the time to rest, Max. You shouldn't even go to school, i'll even tell the teachers."

Max hugged her and ran upstairs.

"Maybe I won't go to school anyways. What's the point of sitting down for 6 - 7 hours listening to things that might not even be applicable in the real world?"

Luz went to where Max was investigating and looked at what he was doing.

"God, when is all this going to end?"

Just seeing the papers almost made her angry and tear them up herself.

"You're back?" Anna yawned in tiredness and stretched.

"Mhmm. What do you want for breakfast?"

"You're making me pick? How about some waffles?"

"Yes ma'am."

Luz dropped the paper and went to the kitchen. She grabbed the apron and put it on and started to bring out the ingredients.

Anna sat down and sighed. She carried the remote and turned on the television.

"By the way, what made you not come yesterday? We really needed you back there you know."

Luz looked back and scratched her head.

"Sorry about that... I just had some things to attend to."

"Some things as in?"

Anna stood up and switched off the television and threw the remote on the couch.

"I don't think it would be right to address a living, breathing organism as a thing, y'know."

Luz's body shook in surprise. She knew what she was talking about. Rather, she knew who she was talking about.
