One month after the wedding.
Callum rushed through the palace, a big smile plastered on his face. Rayla was finally back today after being gone for 2 weeks.
2 awful, lonely, weeks.
Ezran was even allowed to go, but he had to stay behind to train to be future king.
It was extremely boring.
But now Rayla's back, his wife, the love of his life.
And he never planned on separating with her again.
At this point he broke into a jog, rushing to get to the courtyard quicker. Callum passed a guard, watching him chuckle.
"Watch out prince Callum!" He called out.
Callum turned around and flashed him a goofy grin.
"I can't help it! She's back!" He called back. The guard shook his head, smiling.
Even Soren went with them, so you can imagine that he was bored.
Callum passed their room, taking a turn to go into Ez's room to grab Bait. He groaned, making Callum chuckle. He picked Bait up and basically ran out of Ezran's room. He rushed down the halls, not caring that he had to keep up the appearance of a prince. Nothing can ruin his mood right now.
He rushed down four flights of stairs, hastily attempting to fix his hair. Callum's changed quite a bit these past three months. He finally weighs more than Rayla, he's been learning to master magic, he finally eats without feeling guilty, and his hair's gotten a little more past his ears.
Rayla likes it like that.
And he's gonna see her in less than a minute.
Callum began flat out running, desperate to make it to the door. He turned into the throne room, almost smashing face first into a guard.
He stepped back in surprise. "Prince Callum, I was just going to find you."
"Why?"
The guard smiled at him. "Because they've arrived."
Callum's mouth dropped open in shock and he shoved the poor guard out of the way. He ran and flung open the front doors. He dropped Bait on the ground and ran down the steps.
"Rayla!" He screamed, watching a figure turn around.
There she stood, wearing a lilac top with silver lining and black leggings. Her hair was down and she was wearing no makeup, so Callum's definition of perfect.
At this point he didn't care about the rules, the second he saw her face light up he was a goner. Callum ran down the steps, tripping twice. In an instant she's in his arms, and he's kissing her all over her face. She giggled from the affection as he kept repeating the words "I love you" and "I missed you." She cupped his face and kissing him softly, cutting off his words.
He pulled away, breathless. "Two weeks is way too long."
She giggled. "It is."
Callum turned to his adoptive dads, one hand shifting to Rayla's waist.
"Callum!" Ethari exclaimed, walking up to him and ruffling his hair.
He laughed. "I missed you guys so much."
"Trust me we aren't doin any more of that king trainin bullshit." Callum turned to see Runaan. "Rayla was whinin the whole trip."
Rayla gasped and punched him in the shoulder playfully. "You weren't supposed to tell him that!"
"I told him." Ezran's voice cut in. Callum left Rayla's side to give his younger brother a bone-crushing hug.
"I missed you buddy." He whispered so that only Ez can hear.
Ezran smirked. "I wish the feeling was mutual."
Callum pulled away, instantly offended. "Hey! I have to say that-."
"Guys quit it." Rayla cut in. She then moved to grab his hand. "C'mon, let's go."
