Callum sat down, eyes never leaving the house. Rayla sighed and sat down next to him, not caring that her expensive dress is being ruined with dirt and mud.
She turned to him. "You wanna talk about it?"
He shook his head.
She sighed again. "Callum our souls our bonded, i can feel you wanna talk about it."
"What is there to talk about?" He whispered, turning to her. "He's gone, my dad's gone."
A single tear rolled down his cheek, he quickly wiped it away.
"Oh Callum." She pulled him into her as he sobbed quietly. He looked up, face streaked with tears.
"Can we check it out?' His voice croaked.
"You know you don't need to ask me that, you're ma husband."
"I'll never get tired of hearing that." He mumbled softly, standing up slowly. He reached a hand down and helped Rayla up. He gave her his arm and they slowly walked towards what was a shack. As they got there, Callum breathed in sharply when he saw the damage.
"It's all just rubble." He muttered, carefully walking through the mess. He accidentally stubbed his toe, making Rayla wince when she felt the pain in her own.
Callum looked back, fear in his eyes. "Sorry."
Rayla gave him a soft smile. "Don't worry about me ma prince."
Callum smiled when he heard the nickname, going to what used to be his room. He scanned the ground.
From the looks of it poor people stripped anything of value away. He stepped back, drawing a fire like rune in the air.
"Docar svern." He mumbled the trigger words, his hand softly glowing so he can look under nooks more easily.
Meanwhile in what used to be in the living room, Rayla found a silver ring. It wasn't anything special, just a plain silver band with a single diamond in the middle.
"Ummm Callum?" She called out.
"Yeah?" He said rushing back in. She watched as he deactivated his spell.
She handed him the ring, watching his eyes widen.
"Oh my god." He breathed, turning it around to inspect it. "It survived."
"What is it?"
He looked up at her, tears welling into his eyes. "It belonged to my mom."
Oh.
He inspected it again before turning it slightly towards Rayla.
"I want you to wear it." He admitted, bringing it even close to her.
Rayla gasped. "No Callum I can't possibly-."
"I will leave you if you don't wear this." He deadpanned, cutting her off. She sighed and gently grabbed the ring. She slid it on top of her wedding band, smiling when she sees that it matches. Her wedding band was also silver gold, with amethyst crystals in the middle of it. Callum's matched with sapphire, the same sapphire used with his royalty bracelet that he always wears.
Rayla has never seen him take it off.
She looked back down at the two rings. "I love it Callum."
He smiled, taking her hand to lead her out of the house.
"I hope you do."
