The silence felt so loud.
They all sat there eating slowly, not really wanting to say a word. Callum glanced at Rayla, who was slowly cutting her lamb with a knife, hands shaking slightly. He turned to Ezran who was picking at his food, pretending to be interested in his mashed potatoes. Ethari wasn't even eating, just starting at Rayla. Callum felt the awkwardness in the air, and he did not like it.
Bang.
The doors flew open and Soren barged through.
"I found something!" He yelled, capturing everyone's attention.
"What?" Ethari asked, turning to him. He put 1 finger up as he gasped for breath. He put his hands on his knees for support as he took in some much needed air.
"Well get on with it!" Runnan urged.
Soren stood up and ran a hand through his hair. "Well I have this sister, she's a healer of some sort. And she can help Rayla, i know she can!"
Everyone stopped eating, eyes wide.
Callum stood up. "Do you mean it?"
Soren nodded.
Callum ran to Soren and pulled him into the biggest hug possible. He didn't care about appearances, he just let himself cry into his best friend's shoulders.
"Thank you so so much." He whispered, squeezing him even tighter. Soren wrapped his arms around him as a sign of comfort. Rayla stood there in shock, not really believing it. Callum turned towards Rayla and smiled slightly.
"You're going to be okay." He said, voice cracking.
