Chapter 13: Clayton

Clayton's POV

"I'll tell her Joe don't worry, that's what tonight is about."

Joe nodded stiffly and walked away, but not before adding ' you better tell her alpha, you have been alone long enough.'

That thought sent shivers down my spine and I turned into the room to get ready for tonight. For my pack it was definitely different. Normal alphas get weak without their mate and eventually step down, for us, everyone in the pack gets weak and eventually dies, our immortality gone. When someone loses their mate its huge, and without proper ceremonies and precautions, the whole pack can suffer. Thankfully that hasn't happened in a very long time. However, once someone finds their mate it is crucial they either bring the mate into the pack, or leave the pack so the Goddess is always protected.

I got ready quickly, anticipating how Beth would react to the news. I dressed in a black tux with a white shirt and a forest green tie, I accompanied it with my favorite belt that had a buckle on it and in the center of it was a howling wolf and a 4 point star. Earlier that day I had gotten a haircut and I spiked up my hair slightly in the front. I tried unsuccessfully to calm my nerves and before I knew it I was knocking on Beth's door. She opened it slowly and I couldn't help but freeze, my breath held in my lungs. It felt like if I breathed, I would lose this moment and I wanted to memorize her every feature. She looked STUNNING! I couldn't believe the Goddess blessed me with a mate so beautiful. I could feel my wolf coming to the surface and was overcome with lust. I took a few deep breaths of her scent to try and calm myself but it had the complete opposite effect as vanilla and honey clouded my mind. I slowly walked towards her, taking in every inch of her beauty and smiling my best smile at her.

"You look absolutely gorgeous tonight, Beth." I said, hoping my voice didn't shake. She blushed bright red and I couldn't stop eyeing her gorgeous body. "Are you ready to go?" She nodded, her own dazed expression on her face as she took in my appearance. I chuckled and offered her my arm which she accepted and we set off on our date night.

"So where are we going?" She asked for about the billionth time. "You will see when we get there. We are about ten minutes away."

"But you said that ten minutes ago!" She crossed her arms pouting which was cute. I could feel the nerves setting in as we drove farther, getting closer to a private beach I owned. When we got to the dock, I had a yacht waiting to take us to the island where the beach, and my very large house, as well as the pack house and our small village were. This was a larger portal to the pack lands. To me, we were going home to a hidden beach that could only be found by a member of my pack, mainly because there was a magical veil that only a god could open. To Beth, it was just somewhere new. I hoped she would call it home soon too.

We pulled up to the dock finally and her eyes landed on the yacht, it would be about an hour long boat ride to the island but definitely worth it.

"Clayton, is that what we're doing tonight?" She asked, excitement in her voice.

"Not quite, it is taking us where we are going though."

The yacht had a mini bar and a hot tub on it, and we waited for the rest of my fighters to get on as well into a secret section under the boat, they were going home, but they understood that I wanted to have the yacht deck to myself to try and romance her. All but 3 would not be returning with me as they hadn't found mates and the goddess had granted special permissions for them to continue their search giving them each a hint as to where to search. I never guessed that the Goddess would give 3 of us mates from Beth's pack, Joe included. When everyone else was secretly loaded onto the boat with us and Beth finished marveling at everything, we took off.
