Beth's POV
I awoke to the deep gentle calling of my mate's voice. I couldn't explain it but after last night when Clayton kissed the spot I knew he would mark me on, I felt all my sadness and depression wash away and the way he was rubbing caressing me made me feel as though there was nothing and no one but us. Everything after that, well. I couldn't believe how strong he was, though something about him was still off. I had never heard or felt the way I had when he flipped a switch on Damon and went from cool guy to scary as hell in 1.5 seconds flat. I hadn't seen his face, but the minor harmonics in his voice was enough to make me think he was more than just a werewolf.
He was awake too, tracing circles and other patterns on my bare back. I could feel his lips coming down to kiss my exposed neck, I softly moaned, enjoying the feeling of warmth and butterflies that spread quickly through me.
"Good morning beautiful, how was your night?" his deep voice sang one of my favorite songs and I couldn't help but sing the next line.
"Mine was wonderful, with you by my side. I opened my eyes and saw your sweet face."
"It's a, good morning beautiful day." he finished and we started laughing.
"Oh my goodness we are dorks." I said still giggling like mad.
"I had noooo clue." he said sarcastically. I punched him lightly, knowing it wouldn't hurt him one bit. He laughed and grabbed a tray off the dresser that was piled high with food. I heard my stomach growl and it sent us into another fit of laughs.
"Breakfast in bed, whatever is the occasion?" I asked, grabbing some fruit that was on the tray and began to eat.
"I have something special planned for tonight, and then there's that thing I need to tell, well tell and ask you after that." he said. He looked a little scared for a moment but soon it faded and all that was left was a huge smile. I felt nervous trying to think about what it could be, and came to the conclusion it had to do with the demon voice from last night. Clayton ran down the stairs to get something for us to drink after we ate and I decided to grab a quick shower and get ready since it was already 2 in the afternoon. We slept pretty late and I couldn't help but replay what had happened. I heard him rummaging around in the bedroom and I had left the door cracked.
"What time are we leaving?" I asked Clay. Soaping up my hair and letting the shampoo run down my body as I scrubbed away. I rinsed and put in some conditioner so my hair would be nice and silky smooth. After rinsing my hair and body off a final time I shaved my legs and let the hot water beat against me for a while. Stepping out of the shower
I toweled off and towel dried my hair as best I could letting it go natural today.
"Around 5, can you be ready by then? Dress nice too like, formal dinner nice." He responded.
"Sure, I will need to run to my room and grab clothes though and finish getting ready." I couldn't help but wonder where we were going. While I finished up my final touches, I put on shorts and a tank top while I dried my hair. I came out of the bathroom and Clayton was talking to his beta outside the door. I know eavesdropping is bad but I couldn't help it. I tiptoed to the door that lead to the hall and listened closely.
"Sir we have to leave in 2 days, when are you going to tell her? There is no more time before we have to go back home and this pack is trained enough for the upcoming invasion if it happens, things have been quiet lately, maybe they decided against it." Said the second in command, Joe I think his name was, and tell me what? Why did he call Clayton sir? Clayton was a warrior not an Alpha.... right?
"I know Joe, I am going to tell her tonight. We can leave tomorrow night and go to home as long as everything goes well, we aren't allowed to fight with them, not unless she says we can."
"You know that won't happen. You have to tell Beth everything Clayton. If you keep holding back or try to ease her into it, it could be bad. Just rip it off like a Band-Aid, it will be easier."
I quickly made my way back to the closet to grab a hoodie. So many things were going through my mind, like who is SHE? We have to leave tomorrow, or they do? I didn't understand, what was he going to ask me? I knew I would have to go with him, he is my mate, but how far is away? Thinking back to it I didn't know where the Dark Moon pack resided at all... no one had talked about it.
I pushed those thoughts to the back of my mind and closed the walk in closet door when I heard the bedroom door open.
"I need to go get dressed, but all my stuff is still in my room. Care to walk with me?" I asked.
"Let me get ready and I will meet you there." He said and kissed me, his teeth nipping my lower lip. I blushed and nodded before I turned and left the room.
I headed to my room and started looking for a dress. I had a few to choose from, and didn't know how formal to go, so I landed on a pretty deep green sheath gown that ended at my feet and had a slit up to my mid-thigh. I paired it with a pair of silver heels that had a few straps across the top. I decided to wear my favorite necklace, it was a silver moon with a star that hung on a silver chain. A silver bracelet that winds up my arm and a matching anklet on the opposite foot finished off my look and I complemented it all with some vanilla body spray.
I then went to curl my hair and put on my makeup. I chose to go with a light purple and cream combo with black eyeliner and mascara. Darker pink lipstick completed my look. When I opened the door I could see that Clayton looked a little nervous, no scratch that he looked like he was preparing for the end of the world. I opened the door more and he stepped into the bedroom.
He looked at me, his nerves seeming to vanish and his eyes going vibrant blue with lust. I could feel a deep blush coming on and my eyes practically ripped his clothes off. He was in a tux with a tie that matched my outfit, how he did that puzzled me. He had spiked his hair up in the front. He looked so handsome that I couldn't help feeling my knees almost buckle beneath me.
"You look absolutely gorgeous tonight, Beth, are you ready to go?" He asked. I was so nervous for tonight all I could do was nod as butterflies swarmed through my stomach into my limbs.
