I always thought there was just the Moon Goddess, the one we all call to in times of joy, need, or just because you are lost and don't know who else to turn to, I know differently now. Yes, the moon goddess is who helps us, but even she has guardians, and her guardians have to be gods as well to protect her. No one ever assumed they would be walking among us, or looking for their mates.

My door burst open with the help of the one thing I dreaded in the morning. "Beth get your ass out of bed, you will be late for school." I have the world's worst alarm clock ever, I can never hit snooze, or unplug it, and if I don't do as it says, it throws water at me. I also know it by the name of Mom. The next thing I hear is "ccccccccccccc, jjjjjjjaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy," that was my mom's favorite way of waking up everyone else in the house, followed by 4 loud bangs on the wall. My father had installed a special panel in the wall where she could let loose her werewolf strength and it wouldn't crack the wall or supports.

Through the mind link I could hear simultaneous groans and assumed they were doing as I was now, hiding my head under a pillow. I could hear people shuffling, trying to get comfortable again until we all heard the sink turn on and a bucket clink against the stainless steel in the kitchen. The next few minutes were utter chaos, as Mom grabbed the full bucket and a cup and began soaking everyone to get them out of bed.

"I warned you all, now. GET. UP." She roared. I made my usual mad dash to get to the bathroom first and thankfully succeeded in my attempts, closing the door just as Aiden was making his first appearance, peeking his drenched figure out of his room. Although we have more than one bathroom, my favorite one to use is right next to my brother's room. Speeding into the bathroom and slamming the door behind me with clothes in, hand I look in the mirror, grimacing at my bed head and the dark bags under my eyes. I immediately turn on the hot water and heating light to keep the bathroom warm after I get out of the shower. Werewolves are naturally warmer than humans but I always have loved hot showers.

I soaped up my body first with my favorite body wash. It smelled of burnt brown sugar and cocoa butter. I then scrubbed my hair clean and conditioned it so it would be soft as silk. I enjoyed a few minutes of the water beating against my skin as I thought about today, and better yet tonight. Why you might ask? Because today is the day I turn 18 and every wolf know that at 18 you find your mate, or you are supposed to. An unlucky few find that their mates are younger than they are or are already in a relationship, those get messy and complicated.

After my shower I get dressed, I decided on a pair of faded dark blue skinny jeans, a tan and cream cow neck sweater, tan fur boots, and I leave my hair down in its natural way, slightly curly and wavy but not frizzy. It always reminded me of a lion's mane, only a dark auburn color instead of brown or tan. I applied mascara and put in my contacts, grabbed my bag and headed downstairs for breakfast. I may be small, probably the smallest adult female in the pack, but I can easily out eat most of the males.

I sniff twice as I jump off the last 2 steps and smile widely as I smell my favorite breakfast being prepared.

"If anyone touches my bacon I will rip out their stomach, take my bacon back and make you eat it again!!!" I shout as I run and slide into the kitchen. Much to my surprise there is a huge plate of bacon in my place at the table complete with eggs, toast, some orange juice, and a blueberry muffin.

"Happy Birthday Bethany," my family chimed, my brothers and sister and mom all standing around with huge smiles plastered on their faces.

"Thanks guys! What did you do to my food?"

They all laugh and said nothing but I know better than that. The only person I trust to make my food is me and my mother. When I was younger my brothers tried to give me their version of "spaghetti" which was earth worms mixed with cow-pie meatballs and ketchup as the sauce. Not a pleasant experience.
