Suit up

You and Tony stay up all night long, thanks to coffee and two messed up sleep schedules you had it all laid out and perfected just two days later. And it could work.. that was the scary part. If you did this right you could undo everything that happened five years ago. You could bring him back. You might finally be able to sleep.

You drive back to the compound at full speed, screaming in the car to the loud music blasting through the radio. You spot Steve sitting outside the compound, with his head hanging low.

Tony stops the car, backing slowly until you're right in front of him. Rolling down your window. Steve looks at you confused as to why you're here. Tony pops out his head tilting it softly.

"Why the long face?" Tony questions. Steve just looks down at the ground. "Let me guess, he turned into a baby." Tony scoffs.

You chuckle lightly, trying to keep yourself steady.

"Among other things yeah" Steve nods his head. "What are you doing here?" He asks.

"What do you think.. saving your ass" you scoff, as you step out of the car.

"It's the EPR paradox, instead of pushing Lang through time you might've wound up pushing time through Lang" tony explains as he walks out right behind you. "It's tricky.. dangerous. Somebody should have cautioned you against it"

Steve chuckles. "You two did" he smiles weakly.

"Oh did we?" Tony smirks satisfied. You push him softly on the shoulder, his arrogance was showing a bit to much. "Well thank god we're here then" tony smiles.

"What he's trying to say is we fixed it.." you interfere trying to stop Tony from spiraling down into a whole speech about how he is the master genius behind it all, when truly you came up with most of the hard work. You pull up Tony's sleeve revealing a small device in his wrist. "It's a fully functioning time-space GPS. It should be able to guide us safely through the quantum realm without the risk of... Well turning into a baby" you explain.

"What can I say.. she's a genius" tony smirks.

"I'm glad you're here.. both of you. I truly have missed you" Steve says quietly.

"Yeah well turns out resentment is corrosive, and I hate it.." Tony chuckles.

"Me too" Steve smiles.. "And what about you?" Steve questions looking into your eyes.

"I'm working on it.. but like you said the avengers are my family. I'll do anything to keep them safe" you say softly. "Just one rule.. no more secrets, or I'm out. For real this time" you say crossing your arms.

"Deal" Steve says, holding out his hand waiting for you to shake it. You roll your eyes as you pull him in for a hug. It felt so strange, yet so familiar. "I've missed you" he whispers.

"I missed you too" you whisper back.

"Alright one more thing" Tony says. "We're gonna bring back the stones, that's the mission. Bring back what we lost, I truly hope so... keep what i have now, that's my priority, I will not let y/n or myself in any danger whatsoever. I need to protect her." Tony explains. "I can't loose her.." tony smiles.

You grab onto his hand. "Your won't.." you assure him.

"You've both got yourself a deal" Steve says softly.

"One more thing" tony smirks, going to the back of his car, pulling out Steve's old shield.

Steve sighs deeply as he look down at it. "Tony I don't know" he says quietly.

"Why?" Tony grunts. "He made it for you" Tony assures him handing him the shield. "Plus honestly, I have to get it out of the garage before y/n repaints it's" tony chuckles.
