Some Cool Things

Wow. What a ride.

This was an endeavor I began around 5 years ago and it doesn't seem real. To actually finish a project like this is a huge milestone for me, as I am notorious for starting a story and moving on to the next in a matter of seconds.

As a cool treat, for you fine people, I would like to share some of the behind-the-scenes and trivia facts about Rainbow Six: Broken Arrow

1. Broken Arrow was originally meant to be a Rainbow Six x Splinter Cell fanfiction during its Google Doc stages when I wrote purely as a hobby until I had the crazy thought of posting my stories for human consumption.

2. The name "Archer" was originally based off of the Third Echelon agent "Archer" in Splinter Cell Conviction's co-op campaign. Then I watched a movie called "Blood Diamond" starring Leonardo Decaprio, who played a Rhodesian gun runner named "Danny Archer" who was a huge inspiration for my character.

3. Archer went through several names during the story's process if anyone noticed. I ended up permanently changing it to "Andrew Robert West". If anyone sees a random name that hasn't been mentioned previously. It may be one of Archer's work-in-progress names.

4. In the original plot of Broken Arrow, Archer was to fall for Hibana.

5. I drew a lot of inspiration from several Call of Duty missions for combat scenes. The prologue was based on Modern Warfare 2019's first mission. The airfield attack was based on the Black Ops Cold War's airfield mission. The list goes on.

6. Operation Desert Rhino was inspired by Operation Sand Viper from Call of Duty Ghosts and the real-life Operation Gothic Serpent.

7. The names of members of Disciple Team were inspired by the Mobile Task Force in Evan Royalty's short film, SCP Overlord on Youtube(give it a view if you haven't). Looking back now, I probably should have made them more original.

8. Archer is a Sagittarius(Latin for Archer), date of birth being 11/25/95, which was a complete coincidence when drafting the character.

9. The name Broken Arrow was originally a reference to the code word for a lost nuclear device. In the original plot, Fourth Echelon Agent Archer was supposed to work with Rainbow to stop French eco-terrorists.

10. Broken Arrow was the incorrect term for the title. A "Broken Arrow" was a missing nuclear device, and an "Empty Quiver" was a stolen nuclear device, which I named the chapter after. Although Broken Arrow should suffice as a cool title. (I literally just now realized that pairs well with my OC's codename.)

11. The CIA's Studies and Observations Group was named after MACVSOG, which operated during the Vietnam War. Ironically, my version of SOG seemed to go against the CIA more than help it. Composed of the nation's best operatives, the SOG is meant to function as a Presidential Special Missions Unit. To work as a non-military and have legal exemptions, the SOG was forced into the CIA. The true third executive option.

12. Around 2015, the CIA's Special Activities Division was renamed to SAC/SOG, and I had no idea of the change until I had created this new group for my story. So my SOG and the real SAC/SOG are two different groups.

I had a lot of fun writing this and have grown and learned a lot from when I started. A sequel and a prequel is in the works, so stay tuned for that.

To anyone who came to read this only experiencing R6: Siege, I highly recommend playing the older games and reading Tom Clancy's books to get a much better feel for the world he has written that I have been inspired by. Also, check out the original 1999 novel "Rainbow Six" by Clancy. (P.S. It's very good.)

Anyway, thanks for reading. Peace.
