Chapter 10

Zoey & Kelly's Apartment

On the drive back to Zoey's apartment She and Jay sat holding in each other's hand listening to the sound of the radio playing in the background. "Sorry you saw me so fucked up last night," the blonde finally said. "Don't be, you look beautiful when you're smiling and laughing and happy. Don't apologize for that," Jay said as he lifted Zoey's hand up and placed a kiss there as he pulled up to the apartment. 

Zoey smiled at how romantic he could be, "So I'm guessing your gonna have to head back not that you're cleared," Jay said more than asked from the driver's seat. "Yea, gotta go back to the regular grind but I'll be home as soon as I can. You couldn't pay me to stay away," she added earning a smirk from Jay. "I'll be right back just gotta change and get my duffle bag and I'll be back," Zoey said. "You sure?" he asked her as she smile leaning over and kissing him softly. 

"I'll be quick," she said as she hopped out of the truck and jogged across the street and disappeared into the apartment building and out of the detective's view. Zoey sprinted up the stairs pausing outside the apartment to unlock the door noticing an envelope taped to the door. 

The blonde furrowed her brows taking the envelope off the door and opening the door that was unlocked. I swore I locked the door when Jay and I left, Zoey thought to herself as she pushed the door open noticing nothing out of place. Strange maybe Kelly just forgot to lock the door on his way out. The blonde went straight to her room changing quickly and grabbing her bag off the floor placing her gun and badge on her hip. 

Zoey looked at the unopened letter she'd found on the door, she looked it over noticing it wasn't addressed to anybody, strange. she thought as she went to open the envelope when her phone rang. The blonde grabbed the device answering it instantly, "SSA Severide," she said through the phone looking at the plane envelope. "Hey Severide, I just got your medical clearance from Chicago Med. Are you able to meet the team at the Jet in 20 minutes?" Hotch asked through the line. "Yea, I'm on my way now," she said through the line before it disconnected. 

Zoey stuffed the envelope in her bag before heading out the door making sure she locked it this time before she walked outside to the truck where Jay was waiting for her. "Would you be able to drive me to O'Hare?" Zoey asked climbing in the truck. "Already?" the detective asked a bit shocked at how soon she was leaving. "Will just sent Hotch my medical clearance, and the man doesn't like having the team short-handed," Zoey replied as Jay nodded. "Well I'm gonna miss seeing you every day and waking up to you," the dark-haired detective said as he took off towards the airport. "Me too," was all Zoey said softly sending a sad half smile towards him. 

O'Hare International Airport, Chicago

The drive to the airport went by fast, it always did along with the time every time she returned home. The days would fly by and the next thing she knew she was back on a flight to go hunt down the worst humanity had to offer from coast to coast. Zoey sighed looking over to Jay who had the same sad expression on his face as she did. "Go catch those lunatics, I love you Zo," Jay said softly as he cupped one of her cheeks in his hand before pressing his lips to hers. "I love you too Jay, I'll call you when I get back to the office," Zoey told him softly after breaking the kiss as she climbed out of the truck looking back at her sexy muscular boyfriend before she walked into the airport heading through security. 

Zoey grabbed a couple of cans of Monster energy on her way over to the Jet, when the blonde got on the plane she was the first one there, typical she thought as her phone rang. Zoey grabbed the device pressing answer as she held the device to her ear. "SSA Severide," she said through the line. "Hey, Zoey? It's Will from Chicago Med," he said through the line, "Hey Will, how can I help you?" she asked through the line curious to the random call. "I was supposed to talk to you about this before you left Med earlier but got busy and you were gone by the time I could tell you," Will said. "Okay?" she replied pushing him to continue what he was saying. "When I did your blood panel again just to make sure everything was normal to clear you for work I noticed your HCG levels were pretty high," Will said. "Okay... I'm not really sure what that means doc" Zoey said with a smirk. "It means your pregnant," he said through the line causing her to almost choke on her drink. "You're shitting me?" she asked sitting up shocked by the news. "No, I double-checked," he said through the line. "Did it say how far along?" Zoey asked chewing her lip, "Um yea, the blood work says roughly 5 weeks" Will said through the line. 

Zoey knew without a doubt in her mind Jay's the father considering they'd been hooking up for almost 2 months. How could she be so stupid though? "You're not gonna say anything to Jay are you?" Zoey asked trying not to start panicking, "I can't even if I wanted to legally," the ginger said through the line. "So it is Jay's," Will said more than asks, "yea, look I- Zoey you don't have to explain anything to me. That's between you and Jay if you choose to tell him, which I personally recommend but as your doctor, I can't tell you what to do" Will said. "Can you at least give me an idea of how he'll react? please" At this point the panic was clear in her voice as it shook a little. Zoey was on the verge of tears as she wondered if Jay would be Happy or Pissed. Not to mention dating and having a kid together is a huge fucking jump. Was he ready for it? was she? 

"He can get hot-headed and be a smart ass but when he cares about someone in his life he'd protect them with his life," Will said through the line. "Okay, thanks for letting me know doc," she said through the line before she hang up.
