Chapter 20

Kelly & Zoey's Apartment 

Severide and Morgan walked into the apartment and Zoey huffed as she sat on the sofa putting her badge and gun on the table. "This is bullshit Morgan, I could still work from the station at least," She said as Morgan locked the apartment door before walking over to take a seat next to his partner. "Hotch is just trying to make sure you stay safe and your baby," he said looking at her. "I get that, but benching me just isn't fair. Why do I get sidelined because some manic has a crush on me?" She scoffed rolling her eyes. "You just gotta trust Hotch, he knows what he's doing," Morgan said as Zoey just sighed. "And what if this guy goes into hiding again?" she asked him, "he won't he's to addicted to the thrill of this game if anything he's only gonna get worse," Morgan said. "Fantastic," Severide said as she stood up walking over to the fridge to see if she could find anything to snack on, she settled for pickles and Mayo craving it for some reason taking the entire jars before returning to the couch. 

Her partner laughed as she sat there eating the strange combo of food. "Your cravings are strange," Morgan said as Zoey shrugged and turned the TV on setting up the pirates of the Caribbean movies before settling in on the couch. "I didn't know you still watch these movies," Morgan said halfway through the first movie when his phone rang. "Morgan, yea? When? Okay I'm on my way now, yea there's someone posted at the door to the building okay." he replies before he hung up the phone. 

"What happened?" Zoey asked looking at her partner as he got up from the couch, "Hotch just called and said there was an explosion at Navy Pier. I gotta go, there's an officer outside the building he'll be there until everything gets sorted." Morgan said before walking towards the door. "Just. please stay here and lock the door behind me" Morgan said more than asked as he walked out of the apartment. 

Severide stood up and walked over to the front door and locked it before walking back over to the couch and switching the TV to the news that was already announcing the explosion at the pier along with live footage of half the firefighters in the city working to try to put out a massive blazing fire. Zoey sighed shaking her head at the sight, she should be there helping out, trying to find this wack job. Not sitting here at home watching this manic blow up the city. 

The blonde sighed turning the TV off and decided to take a shower many it would help her relax a bit but she knew it probably wouldn't. Severide walked into the bathroom and switched the light on before walking over to the tap and going to switch it on but nothing came out. That's strange, she thought to herself when suddenly a high-pitched sound sounded from a distance. What the Hell is that? the agent asked herself looking around confused when a massive boom sounded as everything went dark.

Chills went down Kelly's back at the sound of the address. "That's the apartment, SQUAD 3 LET'S GO NOW," Kelly said as everyone ran faster hopping in the trucks as they flew out of the driveway of the firehouse led by Squad 3. 

As they got maybe 5 blocks out Kelly could see the thick black smoke rising in the air making his heart beat faster as the only thing he could think of was Zoey. "BE READY WHEN WE GET THERE," the squad lieutenant spoke as the truck pulled onto the street. 

Zoey woke up to the sound of the same high-pitched ringing she heard after the gas station explosion only this time she woke up to blurry bright colours around her and the heat in the room was so intense. The blonde coughed from the smoke as she went to push herself up but couldn't move out from under something. SHit, she was trapped under a piece of the wall that had fallen. Zoey tried to move and get out but still couldn't budge. The blonde started to feel dizzy feeling tired, she tried not to let it engulf her but eventually, it did.

Zoey woke up coughing unable to catch her breath causing her eyes to open noticing the room was even more engulfed in flame and she still couldn't move. "Fire department call out," someone said in the distance. Zoey took a huge breath "HELLLLLPPPPP" she screamed with all her energy. "FIRE DEPARTMENT CALL OUT! ZOEY CALL OUT" she heard someone yell. "HELLLLLLLLP" she screamed again before starting to cough as she waved her arms hoping someone would see her. "ZOEY!? She's trapped we need to get this off her," she could hear her brother ordering his firefighters around and within a minute the wall was lifted off the blonde. 

Kelly wasted no time picking his baby sister up noticing a metal bar sticking through her side. He wasted no time getting her outside where he was met by Gabby and Brett who had a gernie on standby. Kelly lay her down as her eyes fluttered around and she started coughing up blood. "Her lungs been punctured, WE NEED TO GET HER TO MED NOW," Gabby said as they loaded Zoey into the ambo. Kelly looked at Boden who nodded for his lieutenant to go, he had it covered. Without hesitation, Kelly jumped in the back of the ambulance and they zoomed off towards med. 

The whole trip to the ED Brett and Kelly tried to slow the blood that was seeming into the blonde's lungs. To put it simply if she didn't get surgery soon she would drown in her own blood. 

The ambo pulled up to the ED and Zoey was instantly rushed inside where Dr. Halstead and Dr, Manning were waiting for her arrival.
