The Assassin Shadow - Bucky Barnes

Chapter 7

We arrive at the Hydra base. Dad and I are waiting for the others to come inside. We're in big trouble. There's no way that the chief isn't going to punish us. Pierce and some guards walk in, he looks angry.

"We're sorry Sir, we didn't succeed in our mission." My father tells the chief.

"What do you mean you didn't succeed? You are the deadliest assassin! She has powers! How can you both fail like that?" The chief yells at us.

Papa and I remain quiet. I can't even move my gaze from the ground.

"Get out of my sight, now!" He yells again.

We obey and follow some of the doctors and technicians. While a doctor was checking to see if I got hurt, my dad pushed away a technician who was working on his defective left arm. Guards now circle us with guns and electrical batons ready to take us down if we try anything. I look at my dad and he looks confused, sad and kind of nervous. I can't go to my father's side or they will shoot. I can't make a single move, scared that I will be punished.

"Скажите шефу, что Зимний солдат вышел из-под контроля."

(Tell the chief that the Winter Soldier is out of control.)

I hear one of the Hydra men say in a walkie talkie.

We hear footsteps approaching, they can't be from anyone except Pierce. A guard goes to stop him from entering the room.

"Sir, he's unstable." He stutters.

The chief enters anyway signaling the soldiers to lower their weapons. He comes closer to my dad.

"Mission report."

My father remains silent.

"Mission report, NOW!"

I flinch as he yells but papa doesn't say anything again. The chief bends down to be at the same height as dad and slaps him.

"Don't hurt him, please!" I beg him.

He doesn't acknowledge me.

"The man on the bridge, who was he?" Papa says.

"You met him earlier this week on another assignment."

"I knew him."

Pierce takes a chair and sits in front of us.

"Your work is a gift to mankind. You shaped the century and I need you to do it again but with your daughter at your side this time." He says pointing at me. "But if you don't do your part, I can't do mine and Hydra can't give the world the freedom it deserves."

"But I knew him." My dad says desperately.

Pierce sighs, getting up.

"Prep him."

"He's been out of cryo freeze for too long." A doctor answers.

"Then wipe him and start over."

Doctors and scientists come towards my dad and me. Two of them went with my father to attach him to the machine that I remember just now. The machine that 'fixed' me, while two other scientists tie me to a chair so I can't move but they don't turn on a machine for me. Unfortunately for my father who is not so lucky, I can hear the electric shocks that the thing makes from my seat. Papa starts screaming because of the pain. The room is filled with his howling.

"STOP! DON'T HURT MY PAPA!" I shouts at the guards. "STOP! STOP! NO, NO NO!"

I start crying pulling on my restraints. It hurts me that I can't help him.
