I'm woken up by the goats again. Every morning for a year now, the goats have made it their mission to be my alarm clock. I get up, get dressed and join my father in the little backyard we have. I see him bring a stack of hay to the goats since if they don't have one, they come eat our stuff in the hut. There's also two boys my age in a tree watching. I wave to them before going over to my dad.
"Hey, Lyly, how did you sleep?" He asks me.
"Just like always. Great until they start yelling." I say pointing at the animals. He laughs and I help him for some time.
"Alright, let's go eat breakfast. I can hear your belly growling from here." He says as he puts down the last stack of hay. We turn around to go back inside when we see T'Challa, Okoye and two other guards.
"I think we should go and see them first. From the look on their faces and the briefcase in one of the guards hands, it must be serious." I say. He nods and we walk towards them. I greet T'Challa with a smile while my papa immediately goes to the case. I join him next to it and look inside. There's a metal arm for my father in it. I remember seeing it before, Shuri was working on it once and she told me it was in case there was another person ruining the peace we had. We looked at each other understanding that it only meant one thing. A fight or maybe even a war.
"Where's the fight?" He asks T'Challa.
"On its way. It's going to happen here." He answers. "I'll let you get ready and if you don't understand how the arm works, just bring it back to the palace. We'll show you there." When he finishes, we say goodbye and go inside. I take a small cereal bowl and then put on my suit and put my necklaces inside of it so I don't lose them while I fight. Unfortunately, I can't do the same with my Kimoyo bracelet that Shuri gave me for my birthday last year, so I wear it as normal. When I finally finish putting it on, I get out of the bedroom and my father looks confused.
"What? Do I have something on my face? Is it the suit? Did I tear it somewhere?" I ask, searching everywhere on myself.
"No, it's just that you're not fighting this time." He says.
I laugh at him, thinking that he was joking. "Yeah, of course. Anyway, are you ready?"
He doesn't say anything and just looks at me seriously. "Oh, you're not joking?"
My dad comes closer to me. "Listen, you've spent far too much time fighting battles that weren't yours. At only 9 years old, you've already been in more fights than almost any adult."
"Well technically, I'm 78 years old. Even though it's true that I feel more like a 9..."
"Lydia, that's not the point!" He says, upset and raising his voice.
I look down and he takes me in his arms. "Hey, come here. I'm sorry that I raised my voice, it's just that I don't want you to get hurt."
I hug back. "I know, but you have to trust me on the fact that I'll be fine. I've always gotten out of a fight without getting hurt, Papa." I break the hug. "So, are you ready?"
He nods and we leave for the palace. Of course, we brought the arm in the case because it was too hard to understand. When we finally get there, Shuri shows us how it works. They explain to us what's pretty much happening but that we will have more information when the others get here. Then we see a ship entering the shield dome that surrounds Wakanda. We get outside and wait for them to get out. We finally start hearing the conversation between the king and Black Widow.
"How are we looking?" She asks.
"You will have my Kingsguards, the Border Tribe, the Dora Milaje and..." As he was about to finish his sentence, we walked up to them.
