Morning felt like it came quicker than usual. The crew got up and started to get Thomas ready for the day. Thankfully for them, Big Band had go out earlier, and got them buckets of coal and gallons of water. They filled his bunker full of coal, and pumped the gallons into his tanks. Soon enough Thomas was full again, and ready for the trials. The crew had decided to check around to see if there were any breakfast rooms in the facility. Scientists walked by, usually too caught up in whatever papers they had in their hands to pay the crew any mind.
"You'd think finding some grub around here wouldn't be so hard." said the fireman to the driver.
"You got that right, but I'm sure we'll find it soon." he replied. They walked by door that was slightly opened.
"So, you have the engine in the lab?" asked a robotic voice. The driver stopped when he heard this.
"Oi, what's the mat-" the fireman asked.
"Shhh." interrupted the driver. They both leaned over to hear what they were talking about.
"Yes, he's in the old rail shed with his crew." a feminine voice replied. "They are going to put him through some sort of trials today, guess to see what he's made of or if he's hiding anything... Unique."
"I see. "
"Shall I try to bring him to you?"
"No, these trials are valuable to discover what he is. Let it play out and then we'll move on from there, BD out." They heard a monitor power off. Then they heard footsteps coming towards the door. They panicked, got away from the door and made it seem they were just passing by. The door opened and the women stepped out. She noticed the two crew members.
"Hey!" she called to them. They froze up hearing that, fearing the worst. "Why are you two out here?"
They turned to face her. She had blue hair, wore a nurse's outfit that was clearly a size to small, had a bone saw behind her waist, and her legs were wrapped up in bandages.
"W-we were just trying to find the d-dining hall miss." the driver said trying to act as natural as he could, but was quite worried and nervous she would catch on. Her eyes narrowed on them, the stare felt like she was shooting knives and needles at them.
"Just down this hallway to the left." she said, walking down the hallway. "Oh by the way, the name's Valentine sweethearts." she winked at them, then continued on down the hall.
They eventually found the dining all. Only a few people were there. They made their way to the buffet.
"That was too close for comfort back there." the driver said.
"You're tell me, what did they mean bring him to you?" asked the fireman.
"I don't know, but we can't escape here without them noticing, we'll just have to play along for now. "
