You'd think after so long on this earth, with a rap sheet a mile long, people would learn to be fucking terrified of Originals.

I know on the Mikaelson totem pole I'm farther down than most, but that's not to say I don't kill.

I just do it sparingly, definitely have a smaller list of enemies as a result.

I especially pride myself in killing only those who deserve it.

'Just most of the time.'

It's not like I feel guilty about killing Katie, or that her boyfriend is rotting in desiccation as we speak, for a crime he didn't commit. She put Hayley's life at risk.

And that's what sets me off. Some would call me 'overprotective,' but Hayley's still here.

'Can't say the same about your brothers.'

Deep breaths. Deep, long breaths. Pretend Bekah is right next to me.

"Talia, breathe." That's right! But that voice didn't sound like my subconscious.

Feeling returned as I turned to see Cami next to me with a hand on my shoulder.

"Everything's gonna be okay." She comforted. "You're doing wonderfully." I didn't realize I was calming down until she said it.

That's the fastest I've ever calmed down. My sister would be jealous.

"Thank you." I mumble. "We gotta keep moving."

Davina turned around. "What happened? Is something wrong-"

"Take it easy, Davina." Cami cut her off. "Talia is fine, she just doesn't need questions right now." This woman really is my angel.

"Is she okay?" Davina looked at me concerned.

Cami didn't answer. Instead, she looked at me patiently. I steadied myself. "I'm fine, sweetheart. What we need to focus on is getting the two of you away from New Orleans." That seemed to unsettle both of them.

"You're not coming with us?" My sunshine sounded disappointed.

"I have responsibilities here." Hayley for starters.

"Oh..." Davina sounded defeated.

"It's for the best." I comforted her. "Maybe when all this blows over, we can see each other again." Doubtful, but it made the girl smile so whatever.

It appeared the festival was going off without a hitch this time around. Marching bands and costumes dancing in the streets. We had Davina wear a masquerade mask and wedding dress as a disguise, but there was still too big a crowd to be relaxed.

It was making Davina antsy. "There's people everywhere."

Cami tried to stay positive. "Just keep walking, no one knows it's you."

But all the color on the young witch's face vanished as she stared behind us. "Cami....Talia-"

She points into the crowd which causes me to turn around-just to spot my lovely half-brother. "Son of a whore!" I clap a hand around my mouth and quickly vamp speed the three of us away as Klaus turns at the noise.

Love a good Klaus jump scare, it's been too long.

Once I know we're safe, I look back at them. My sunshine starts to panic. "We have to get off this street." And the three of us are off again.

Smooth one, Talia!
