"You kissed her?!" I slap my hand onto Hayley's mouth, but not in enough time to stop the scream from ringing out across the compound.

Thank fuck the boys are out doing Quarter control or something.

I felt once they weren't in the vicinity would be the best time to catch up with the werewolf.

And I was right.

"Bloody hell, Hayley! You want all of New Orleans to know?" I silently scolded.

"Sorry." She mumbled. I removed my hand. "It's just so exciting. I mean, I knew you'd eventually come to your senses, but I thought you were too stubborn for it to be anytime soon."

"Yeah well, apparently Cami O'Connell is even more stubborn than I am." How is that even possible?

"So is that all you two did, or was there more that took place in the entire day you were missing?" She is such a gossip today. At my look, she turns defensive. "What? I missed talking to you. You weren't kidding, with Elijah back we haven't had a moment to breathe. Makes me miss when it was just the two of us."

"And Klaus.....and Rebekah." I trailed off.

"I mean in the house!" She protested.

"It's just us in the house right now." I pointed out.

"And that's exactly what I'm talking about. It's just us again for the first time in a while. Tell me about your succeeding love life." Love how she added in succeeding.

"How are things with my brother?" Two can play this game, love.

"Which one?" I give her a look. "Things are going great with Elijah. He is such a wonderful help taking care of me and the baby, just like you said he would. Why do you ask?" Does she think I'm a moron?

"Hayley, I'm not stupid. I know there is something going on between the both of you. I've known that since before he came back. If you don't care to admit it, that's fine, but I was more looking into if you mentioned what we discussed on the phone yesterday?" At this, Hayley's posture went from nervous to a different kind of fear. "And so you haven't."

"I wish I never asked. You wouldn't understand-" She starts.

"Then tell me what's wrong." I place a hand on her shoulder. "Don't you trust me by now?"

She looks down with a face full of guilt. "Sophie called me yesterday to offer me a deal." At the witch's name, frustration seeps in. This woman threatened her life and has the gaul to ask for something. "She wanted to know the whereabouts of Celeste Dubois' remains, but according to her the only person who knows is-"

"Elijah." I concluded. "Celeste was a powerful witch, powerful enough to be an elder. They must think her magic is strong enough to be channeled, and if they can channel her power-"

"Any witch can complete the harvest." Hayley finishes. "At first I told her to bite it, but then she revealed the witch who Marcel got to cast the curse on my family. She said it was her ancestor, and that means she has the power to reverse it."

I run my fingers through my hair. "Marcellus was right, those witches refuse to go down without a fight." I look back at the pregnant wolf. "How can you know she's telling the truth?"

Hayley shakes her head. "I don't, nor do I trust her, but if she's being honest then I have a chance to free my family."

"It sounds too good to be true. I don't want to burst your bubble, but the witches have only been looking into their own interests since we arrived here. Though I now understand why you are reluctant to bring this up to Elijah. The last thing he would want is to disturb his lost love's resting place, but if it's what needs to be done he'll have to see reason. I'll see what I can get out of Marcel, and if the name Devereaux is tied to that curse we can tell my brother together." At my idea, Hayley looks away in shame. Oh bloody hell! "Unless you've already done something."
