When you spend such a long time as an immortal, it gets hard to know what fear feels like.
Mystic Falls taught me that our lives are still precious even with all of our strength.
But this was a different story.
This was a threat that wasn't crafty or smart. This was something stronger than us.
It was like being faced with ten Bonnie Bennett's at once.
How did our family go from the most feared beings to such easy prey? It feels like we have been fighting off danger nonstop for years. I hated the senseless violence of our siblings, but now I'm starting to realize why they did it.
I couldn't sleep. I couldn't stop thinking about Kol. I don't remember sleeping much the last time either. Too consumed with grief to understand my own reality.
But that being said, I didn't think I imagined Rebekah strutting down the hallway in heels in the dead of night.
Wasn't Marcel keeping an eye on her?
I groan when I realize what that meant as I carefully roll out of bed. I walk as fast as I can to follow her as I see her going into Hayley's room.
Oh no.
By the time I make it to the doorway, I hear Hayley bark. "Get away from her!" Before she is blasted back by a spell that I know Rebekah is not skilled enough to use let alone would do.
I speed over and scoop Hope into my arms before letting my vampire features show. "You want her? Try and take her from me, bitch."
Rebekah, or should I say Eva snarled. "No Original is going to stand in my way!" She lunges her hand forward and I feel my brain splitting from an aneurism spell. But I keep myself upright and body shielding Hope as she stirs and fusses.
That's when I hear footsteps behind me as Klaus is frantic. "Rebekah, what are you doing?" Eva's attention moves to him as she blasts him back with Hayley. Klaus manages to keep his footing and takes a step forward to cut her thyroid open with a knife. Eva cries out in pain and lunges out the window.
Hayley sighs in relief as she rushes over to me. I carefully place Hope in her arms. "She's okay, Hayley. She's strong." Looking between the two parents as they held their daughter close. "Like her parents." Smiling before staring grimly out the window.
Great start to a new day!

The sun had risen and as such, so did our fearless leader as he desperately scavenged through our collection of items Klaus keeps under the stairs. The rest of us, that being Hayley, Marcel, and myself stood behind him waiting for the plan. "I should really stop packing these away. There's always one family member or another in need of a good shackling."
"I told you to start labeling your boxes." I sang with a light smirk even in spite of the grim circumstances.
Klaus rolls his eyes. "Really? And how does one label 'witch torture tools' without rousing aggravation?"
I snort. "You want to prevent aggravation? Am I speaking to the right brother?"
He rolls his eyes and pulls out the shackles used to negate a witch's magic and practically pushes them into Marcel's arms. "Find Rebekah-or Eva, or whoever the bloody hell that was-use these to stop her from doing magic. And don't hurt her. The non-psychopathic bits are still my sister."
I roll my eyes. "A please would also work? Also an are you alright after Eva snapped his neck?"
Marcel sighed. "It's cool, T. I'm okay. Alright, I won't be the only one looking for her. She killed witch-kids. The twenty-four hour hold that Elijah got the covens to agree to? Ended at midnight. Every witch in the city is gonna be gunning for her."
