I could normally tie the events taking place right now with an anecdote from the past that could make me feel slightly better about these unbeatable odds right now, but for once I don't. This has never really happened before. I mean, Elijah has been taken down by Klaus and there was that incident last year when he handed our brother over to Marcel.

But in those moments, even when I feared for his possible death or discomfort, it will never make me fear to this level. Because Marcellus isn't my mother. He isn't cruel or manipulative. He doesn't make me question in uncertainty what is happening to my older brother right now.

Elijah isn't the one who gets captured, whose life is in danger. He's the one who gets us out of trouble. And now I have no idea what to do, who to go to. I don't know what to do right now. And I'm not the only one.

"I'm going to ask you again. Elijah Mikaelson. 6 foot, brunette, wearing a suit most likely. Where is he?" In the absence of Elijah, Klaus has opted to do what he always does. Torture. And to my surprise, in my helpless state I'm actually helping him.

I was holding down the latest witch as he cried. "I swear I don't know! She doesn't tell us about her plans with her family! She keeps that information private!" He turned his head to look at me. "She said you were the merciful one."

I sighed. "I place pity on the innocent, not those who are keeping my brother in captivity. So you better answer my brother's question before things get ugly." He gulped.

Klaus gripped his throat tightly. "My sister has informed me of the witches Esther made a part of this mission. You were there when our brother was taken. So where is he?"

I grew nervous at the state of the hostage. "Nik-"

He cut me off with a yell. "I know she's hiding him somewhere close, so you are going to tell me where!" But with those final words, he broke the witch's neck. "Damnit!"

"Nik!" I scolded. "What have I told you the last two times? That was our last lead!" As I let his body slump off the chair and onto the floor.

Klaus ran his bloody hand through his hair. "I think I may have another idea." And started to walk towards the door.

I smirked. "I'll go with you-"

He stopped. "No. You will stay here and look after Hayley."

That floored me. "What? No! Nik, we're not going back to last year where you go out and do the work while I stay in with a now hybrid who can take care of herself."

Klaus rolled his eyes. "I'm not worried about her safety, Talia. I'm worried about her running off to take on our mother alone. You need to stop whatever scheme she's concocting on the other side of that door. Do you understand?"

I grumbled, because I know he's right. "Just promise me you know what you're doing."

He gave me a serious look. "Elijah is coming home. Tonight." And he finally opened the doors to find Hayley sitting on a sofa waiting for us. She looked slightly taken aback by Klaus' state. I was covered in blood also, but not as badly.

She finally spoke up. "Oh. So, I see your interrogation went well?"

Klaus smirks as we both start washing up. "Eh, it turns out these witches are delicate creatures. No matter! I suspected my mother had Elijah captive."

Hayley rolled her eyes and stood up. "Great. Let's go find them!"

My brother quickly shakes his head. "Esther is too powerful. She won't be easily found. I need to draw her out. While you and Talia have a girls' day, or whatever you call it." And he made a beeline for the door.
