After living for a thousand years, things stop surprising you very often. This doesn't mean never. I mean, my brother who is technically dead had a miracle baby, my two brothers who's deaths broke me came back to life along with my mother and father, and it was a bunch of humans and baby vampires who killed them in the first place.
Obviously new situations can pop up even after a thousand years. The issue with this is that even with so much time I'm still a fucking idiot dealing with surprises.
I was currently driving through what I think might be Alabama but I wasn't sure. My sunshine was sitting in the passengers seat holding Hope against her because I felt the car seat in back was too far to reach in case something happened.
Dangerous, I know. But I was losing it and so was my girlfriend.
Cami was more justified to be freaking out. She just watched a house explode from not a very far distance. And while I was trying to be safe and drive with two hands, I couldn't help but release one every now and then to hold hers in comfort.
I definitely wasn't making things better, but I was also stressed out. Finn was most certainly dead and body jumping to some poor sod in New Orleans. So really the person who was gone was my therapist. Vincent was a good man plagued by demons he never shared. He didn't deserve any of this, and the fact that I couldn't save him was something I was trying desperately to push down as I attempted to protect my girlfriend and niece.
Hope was definitely feeling our energies as she had not stopped crying since we left Arkansas. Cami was doing her best to calm her down, but she was also scared.
I let out a breath. "It shouldn't be long now."
"Where are we going?" She asked.
I sigh. "The only place I can think of. Home. Finn is still a threat for now, but we just need to push up Hayley and Jackson's wedding a bit. Until then, fortify the compound. I don't know." That's when I finally got through to Klaus. "Where the hell have you been?"
I could feel my brother rolling his eyes. "Desiccated to stop Finn. Did everything work out? I can't get a hold of Elijah."
"That's cause he blew himself up." I cut to the chase. "And Finn. And the safe house. I got Cami and Hope out while the fight occurred. It all happened so fast."
His eyes widen. "Our brother is dead?"
I shrugged. "I doubt it. This has never happened before, but Originals can't die to anything but the white oak. I guess he'll be......regenerating his limbs." I did not wanna think about it.
"And where are you now?" He asked urgently.
I sigh. "Alabama, I think? We're driving back to you. It was the only thing I could think of-"
"You did good, sister." He cut me off. "Hayley and Jackson are getting married tomorrow. Soon Hope will have her army. We can bring her home."
I raise an eyebrow. "And Finn? What about my sunshine?"
He rolled his eyes. "If you think I don't have a plan for protecting Camille, you must forget who I am. She will stay at the compound until he is dealt with once and for all. Shouldn't take long after we stripped him of any allies and the ability to use our parents. I doubt she will complain much."
I give my girlfriend a smirk, which causes her to laugh. The first laugh in hours. "Talia, please take this seriously."
I lift her chin with my fingers and kiss her. "I'm sure I can make the time go by quickly for you, sunshine."
I heard my brother gag on the other end. "How many times must I ask you to stop flirting with her in the middle of our phone calls? Especially when we are discussing serious matters! If Elijah finds you, let me know. Until then, I'll see you at home." And he hangs up.
