Just when I think this family is putting the past behind us, reality comes knocking.
So apparently Katerina is dying, not that I give a shit.
I remember her from centuries ago, and while I empathize with what my brother put her through, her escape only accelerated his decent into madness.
Plus if I had to consume my thoughts with every innocent bystander that was fucked over by my brother I'd never get anywhere.
While my feelings on the matter were clear, and there was no way I'd ever step foot back in Mystic Falls, of course Klaus jumped at the chance to finally watch her kick the bucket.
And maybe see a certain blonde.
So he's gone for the weekend, Rebekah too for some reason. I suppose those two spent the most time there.
What surprised me was that Elijah had opted to stay with me in New Orleans. I do remember him and Katerina having a connection. I even put her on the list of his exes even though they technically never did anything. That I know of.
"You perplex me, brother." I caught him just after our siblings had left for Virginia.
"How so, sister?" Elijah turned around with slight annoyance.
"Katerina and yourself have history. I would've assumed you'd accompany Klaus and Rebekah to Mystic Falls." Was I being a bit nosy? I think that would be obvious at this point.
"While the idea of paying respects to Katerina was tempting, I decided it would do more harm than good to get mixed up in all the 'drama' of the inhabitants." You can say that again. But as I tried to dig deeper, he just walked out with no words. Rude.
I get it though. I know deep down the connection between the two was deeper than Elijah will ever allude to, and after Sophie's grave robbing of another great love of my brother's life, he's sensitive to the subject matter.
So the two of us get a Klaus free weekend. Works for me!
It couldn't have come at a better time. After last week's shitshow and the death of Davina hitting pretty hard for a girl I met a few months ago, tensions were high. Thankfully Klaus has also been on his best behavior both during and since the incident. The poor man has been doing everything in his power to cheer up Marcellus, talking, drinking, I even heard he held his son as he cried. It's nice to see. As Elijah used to comment, Klaus' humanity really shined when looking after the boy in his youth and occasionally to this day. Unfortunately, Marcellus was deep in mourning and needed time to heal.
As I told Klaus...
"How the fuck am I supposed to coax him through his grief whilst saddled with our brothers death? Sound pretty unhelpful and hypocritical to me!"
I understand that Klaus is worried for Marcellus, especially after watching what I've been through for almost a year, but pushing will only make the situation worse.
So yeah, him being gone is definitely a good thing. Best is, I also get a break from my sister's passive aggressive behavior!
After what happened, I tried to approach her about what I possibly could have done, but received nothing back.
I hate the silent treatment.
So Elijah and I spent the week playing chess, and after going against Josh so many times, it was fun to have an actual challenge.
"Talia, you better not be letting me win." Elijah's smirk makes me want to throw him out a window, but it could never top how infuriating a Klaus smirk can be.
