Bruce Banner

I was treating a patient when a little girl came rushing in. She was frantic and worried.

"My papa, please!" The woman in the room tried ushering her out.

"It's okay." I gathered up my supplies.

"I have money, help." I nodded my head.

I grabbed my bag and closed it.

"Can you lead the way." I rushed out the door.

Nyx

I heard the rustle and then the little girl jumped out the window. I smiled.

"What the," I came out as Banner froze, "who are you?"

I smiled at him.

"Honestly? Not from this planet. However I'm here to retrieve you Doctor." He narrowed his eyes on me.

Bruce

The woman was dressed in a shirt and skirt. She had a shaw wrapped over her shoulders. She seemed relaxed, but I didn't know who she was or why she was here.

"Who are you?" She smiled.

"I'm Rogue, but you can refer to me as Nyx. I'm here to retrieve you on Director Fury's orders. It's urgent." I laughed.

She looked confused.

"Oh yeah, what does he want? Me or the big guy?" Nyx tilted her head.

"He has no interest in your alter ego Doctor. What we need is you, you know gamma uh radiation better than any other person on the planet." I scoffed.

"How did you even find me?" She met my eyes.

"SHIELD never lost track of you, Bruce," she cringed, "sorry, Dr. Banner. SHIELD has kept unwanted attention away from you. I am simply here because the world needs you."

The girl looked at the table.

"Is that it? Are you sure they don't need the big green monster?" She shook her head.

"They don't, though I can't promise you won't need to let him out. The thing we need help finding is called the Tesseract. It emits gamma radiation. Someone used it and opened a gateway. Now we have to find the god who took it." She looked sad.

She bit her lip and looked up at me. She was waiting for me to say something. I didn't trust Fury as far as I could throw him, which was pretty far if I was hulk. The girl giggled. I frowned.

"Look, I speak the truth when I say we only need you to find the Tesseract," she looked down, "however, I need something as well. When we find the Tesseract or Loki, I need time with the scepter by myself."

She looked sad. I felt like she may be lying, but I don't think she is.

"Why?" She looked up at me.

"Every object that has power, has a will, a purpose. A memory of sorts. I need to look at those memories of the staff. The god we're hunting, the one who stole the Tesseract used to be a friend. I have a theory and I need proof that my theory is right before I condemn him for the things I know he'll do. So will you help me and Fury?" The look on her face wasn't one of caution.

She was desperate. She may be here following SHIELDS orders, but she had another purpose for asking me. One that was personal. I stepped forwards. She looked up at me.

"I believe you," she smiled though she still looked sad, "when do we leave?"

"Now would be better, Doctor." I nodded my head.

"Please call me Bruce." She stood.

"Very well, then please call me Nyx." She wrapped an arm around my waist.

"What are you doing?" She glanced down, then back up at me.

Her cheeks turned pink.

"I'm sorry, I figured you wouldn't want to ride in a jet. I can teleport us to where we need to go. It's an ability I have." I watched as she looked away embarrassed.

"I trust you." She looked up at me surprised.

"Why," she looked so sad again, "you barely know me."

I felt really calm. I don't know what it was about her, but Nyx was different. She came completely unarmed.

"Yes, yet you know what I turn into and came to me with no weapons and no back up." She smiled at me.

"Thank you for trusting me. Shall we go?" I nodded.

"Hold on, Bruce." She smiled at me.

We were gone.

Phil

I sighed as Tony Starks elevator doors opened.

"Phil," I looked up to see Mrs. Potts walking towards me, "how are you Phil? What brings you here tonight?"

I smiled at her. I wish it was under better circumstances. Something about this whole situation worried me. I was worried about Nyx.

"I'm afraid it's important," I handed the computer to Stark, "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't Tony."

Tony looked surprised, "it's really bad isn't it?"

I nodded my head. I feared for Nyx and the world if my plan didn't work.

"I'm afraid so. We need you Stark." Pepper grabbed the computer.

She handed it to Tony, "it looks like you have lots of homework. I love you and I'll see you later."

I smiled at Pepper, "I'm sorry I disturbed your night. This is just really important."

Pepper smiled, "I understand. Could you drop me off at the airport?"

I nodded my head. Pepper gave Stark a kiss. I looked away.

"So why do you need me?" I looked at Stark.

"The fate of the world depends on it," Pepper linked her arm with mine, "let's go Phil. He'll need some time. How are you?"

I smiled as we walked into the elevator.

"I'm good, I adopted someone this year. She's really great." Pepper smiled.

"You must be proud of her," I looked down, "I am. I am glad I did it. She is a wonderful young woman."

"You look happy Phil." I nodded my head.

"I am. She and I are really close. She calls me dad. I love her so much." We left the Stark building.

Fury

I had just walked into the gym where Steve Rogers was. I watched as he hit the bag off the hook. It broke all over the floor.

"How you doing Rogers?" He turned.

He sighed and turned away.

"What do you need, sir?" I stepped towards him.

"We need you Captain. A threat came and stole the Tesseract. What can you tell us about it?" He unwrapped his hands.

"What kind of threat?" He picked up his gym bag and one of the punching bags.

"One from outer space." He looked irritated.

"You should have just left it in the bottom of the ocean, sir. That thing will do more harm than good." He left the gym.

"Well that didn't go over well." I went back to the helicarrier.
