Chapter 3

The day had finally arrived that the Branson's, and hopefully, Drew Danielson would arrive at the pack. Rachel was running around the pack house, making sure everything was perfect for their arrival. Food had been prepared and was sitting on the large tables set up in the backyard. Rachel had went all out, having brisket, steaks, grilled chicken, and a few other meats prepared. There was endless side dishes, anything anyone would want. Drinks were set up at a separate table, sweet tea, soft drinks, and beer sitting in coolers. She wanted everything to be perfect, knowing that if Michael was successful in getting an alliance with Nightshade, they would surely get an alliance with Silent Ash once Drew Danielson took over.

There was a table set up for the Waters family, with spaces left open for the Branson's. They would eat together, hopefully getting aquatinted to one another before the negotiations started. Brooklynn had just arrived, dressed casual, but nice. She was wearing a pair of denim skinny jeans, with a rip in the left knee. They clung to her, hugging her hips and curves just enough. Her blouse was red and white checkered, and off the shoulders. Instead of wearing an uncomfortable pair of flats, she threw on her white Converses, knowing she would more than likely be doing a lot of standing. Her bright red hair was pinned back on both sides with Bobby pins, the rest left to cascade down her back.

Her and her siblings had lined up, letting Michael inspect their outfits, making sure they were dressed up enough. He nodded, letting them wander off. Andy and Brooklynn went and sat on the front steps, chatting happily to one another, mostly about the selection of food their mom had chosen. They were cut off by Michael's booming voice, letting everyone know that the guests were about to pull up. He walked out the steps, Andy and Brooklynn hurrying and standing up, lining up along the steps like he had told them too. The family stood together, watching as a couple SUV's pulled up to the door.

"Adeline, I don't want to hear one word out of you, understood?" demanded Michael. It made the hairs on all of their arms stand up, his tone affecting them all.

Andy ignored the goosebumps and rolled her eyes, replying through gritted teeth, "Yes, Michael."

He growled dangerously at her, before straightening his posture as warriors began stepping out the vehicles. The last vehicle slowly pulled up once the warriors had existed, and the door opened. Aldrich Branson stepped out the car, moving to the side and holding out his hand. Brooklynn's heart beat began rising, and she pulled her lips into a straight line, trying her best not to freak out. Alpha Nicole Branson stepped out the vehicle, her bright, blonde hair catching the sun. She looked amazing, wearing a baby blue sun dress and flats. Her hair was braided into a French braid, and diamond earrings hung from her ears.

She took Aldrich's hand, her daughter on her hip as he helped them out the car. Nicole turned and smiled at them all, before turning back into the vehicle, leaning her head in momentarily. Andy slapped Brooklynn's arm, winking at her as the front passenger door opened. Drew Danielson stepped out, and Brooklynn felt her breath catch. She hadn't even noticed him, focusing all her attention on Nicole and Aldrich Branson.

He and Aldrich were dressed similarly, both wearing button up shirts and slacks, with expensive looking dress shoes. She couldn't take her eyes off the man as he laughed at something Nicole said, before turning and following them towards the doors. Nicole wore a kind smile, the little girl on her hip babbling away and playing with her sparkly diamond earrings. The four of them made their way to the Waters, stopping once they reached them. Brooklynn stole glances at Drew, who hadn't seemed to notice her. She took a deep breath, breathing through her nose. A strong scent hit her, and her wolf stirred within her.

Mate.

She looked away from Drew, turning to Nicole, a smile on her face, not wanting to cause a scene and anger Michael.
