Hey guys! Sorry for taking so long to update! I've had both my daughters birthdays I had to plan back to back (one in October and the other in November), and then Christmas! So sorry for updating less! Hope you enjoy the chapter! ❤️
The events of the morning had left every on edge. James' pain had finally subsided some, so he was able to think more clearly and try to diffuse the situation between everyone. Brooklyn was still with Nicole, and Drew, Nicollet, James, and Lance remained in the first room together. James slowly sat up, grimacing at the pain that was still evident in his shoulder. Drew was sitting in a chair by his bed, running his hands through his blonde hair, thinking over everything that had happened.
"You need to chill out, man. You're gonna go bald if you keep doing that." James said, sighing once he got comfortable in the bed. "You both were mad and upset. It's fine, just apologize."
"James is right, an apology will go a long way with Nicole." Nicollet added, standing behind Drew, grabbing his hands in hers, stopping his movements. She sighed, letting go of his hands and running a gentle hand through his blonde hair. "Calm down. You were both upset and angry, you let your wolves get the best of you both. It'll all work out, just calm yourself." Nicollet used a gentle tone, working out the knots that had formed in Drew's hair with gentle fingers. He was tense, but she could feel his body relaxing after a few moments. "There you go. Just breath. Brooklynn is with her, Nicole will be fine. You, on the other hand, need to go address the pack. They're all eager to hear about the bear."
Drew sighed and nodded, standing up and turning to pull Nicollet into a hug. "I'm sorry, Mom. I know I made a bad call."
Nicolette hugged him back, rubbing his bare back soothingly. "It's okay. It's only your first full day. You're gonna make mistakes, you just have to learn from them." She pulled away, pulling his face down to where she could place a kiss on his forehead. "Go, address your pack."
Drew nodded and gave her a small smile, before meeting eyes with Lance. He gave him a nod, and the two of them left the room. Nicolette sighed once more, turning to James. "I'm gonna go find Nicole and Brooklyn, you gonna be alright in here while I'm gone?"
"Yes ma'am, I think my mom is on her way. She'll keep me company." James answered, giving her a smile.
Nicolette smiled back and nodded, turning and leaving the room. She followed the two girl's scents until she stopped in front of a familiar room. She knew why Nicole had picked that specific room to calm down in, and a pang of sorrow rushed through her. Nicolette brushed it off, opening the door and stepping inside. Nicole was still in Brooklyns arms, both of their faces tear stained. "Hey you two. You okay, Hun?" Nicolette asked Nicole, sitting down on the bed beside her.
Nicole didn't answer, but moved out of Brooklyn's arms and into her mothers. Brooklyn gave her a small smile, and stood to leave. But Nicole grabbed her hand, her eyes pleading. "Please don't leave." she mumbled, her fingers intertwining with Brooklyns.
Brooklyn nodded, sitting back down beside her, her hand not leaving Nicole's. "I won't. I just thought you two might want a moment. I won't leave though."
Nicole smiled thankfully and nodded. Nicolette began running her hand through her daughters hair, feeling her relax much like Drew had. "What's wrong. Why are you so upset?" she asked her gently.
Nicole sighed and felt tears well back up in her eyes. "I just...I don't know. I feel like he's right, Mom."
Nicolette shook her head. "Drew didn't mean a word of what he said. He feels awful, Hun. He knows his words cut deep."
"It doesn't matter if he meant them or not. I'm not mad at him, he was right. I left my pack, the one thing I said I would never do." Nicole's voice was broken, full of guilt and shame.
