Chapter 11,secrets
We drove home and as soon as we entered the garage, I saw a little pixie jumping up and down. It took me a second before I realised she was yelling: 'Come on! Come on!'. Carlisle shook his head and muttered something under his breath, which I didn't catch. Carlisle got out and was at my side of the car in a flash. I blinked and realised this was another thing I'd have to get used to. He opened my door politely.
"Alice, give her a break!" He scolded her. Her screaming stopped, but she couldn't control the bouncing.
"Come on! Why are you guys so SLOW!" I grinned and got out, smiling at Carlisle. I had a second before Alice was dragging me inside and up the stairs. Carlisle shook his head and Esme, who was now just behind us just smiled.
"Alice? Where are we going?" She didn't stop to answer me properly and said, while looking over her shoulder:
"You'll see!" We reached the third floor and stopped in front of a white door. I stood there, looking at Alice expectantly.
"Come on then! Go inside!" I raised my eyebrows in confusion and pushed open the door. All I could do was stare, my mouth hanging open.
"Close your mouth, honey, or you'll catch flies." Alice giggled and danced inside elegantly. I blinked a couple of times and resisted the urge to pinch myself to make sure what I was looking at was real. Inside was a room, decorated with blue butterflies on the wall. The wall on my left was painted baby pink with a bed against it. The sheets were the same colours as the butterflies.
"Alice! It's amazing!" I said, wandering through the room. My fingers trailed along everything, feeling the texture to make sure it was real and not some strange dream.
"Is it yours?" I asked. I could hear her giggeling from behind me.
"No, silly! It's yours!" Her laugh echoed through the room and sure enough, when I turned around to make sure she wasn't joking, she was bouncing again. Behind her, just beside the door was a beautiful white desk, a blue and pink light adorning the surface. I also saw a laptop on top of the desk and I just stood there in absolute disbelief.
It took me all I had not to become emotional. This was too big of a gift. My own room, with a matress on the bed, a desk for myself, cupboards to put my own stuff in. Not something he had picked out, just my own sanctuary. My eyes swept over the room, now noticing something I hadn't seen when coming in. On the far end of the room were two big glass doors. I walked over to them and put my hand on the handle. I pushed it open and saw a floor beneath me.
"I have a balcony?!?" I said in disbelief. Alice just couldn't stop giggling.
"You haven't even seen the best part yet!" Alice walked back in and pulled open a door. Then she casually walked inside. I followed her catiously and saw a massive, and I mean massive, walk-in closet. Inside were hundreds of dresses, skirts, trousers and shoes. A whole wall was decorated with shoes, from high heels to trainers. I spotted dresses and bags that must have been bought from an expensive designer.
"This is for me?" I asked.
"Yeah, I wanted to use the spare room behind your room to store more clothes but Esme said I couldn't! Life isn't fair!" She wailed. I couldn't resist touching the clothes while she was talking.
"It's too much, Alice, too much! Thank you!" I managed to whisper and crushed her with a hug.
"You're welcome! I loved designing the whole thing! I'm thinking about giving the whole house a make-over, but I think Esme wouldn't be too happy. She generally designs and builds the houses."
I interrupted her. "Houses? As in plural?"
"Yes, plural. You live in what we call 'the main house'. Basically, all of us have a bedroom here, because if a human visits and we don't have a proper bedroom here, there would be questions and we'd have to move again. Something we obviously want to avoid. Esme, Carlisle, and now you too, live here. All of the others have separate houses in the woods or back in another town. Bella and Edward have a separate cottage where Nessie lives too, though she sometimes falls asleep here. Jasper and I have a house for the two of us down south and Rose and Emmett, well, they tend to destroy their houses rather quickly so I don't really know if any of theirs is still standing. But don't worry, most of the time everyone's here."
