A/N- Very short little blurb. I thought that for some of you this would be nice considering I know a lot of people suffer with anxiety. I wanted to make something specific to you all, just so you know you are never alone in what you are going through.
Let me know if you guys like these types of one shots. I know some people go back to these when they have panic attacks or really bad anxiety days, so I want to do what I can in order to help you <3
Parties where something that you where prone to, especially living in New York. Sure you went to them, but did you enjoy them? Well, that was a completely different story.
Dating a lawyer meant attending every one of the parties, galas, and events that where held. New York's biggest politics and lawyers would line up in a room, talking endlessly about the raving market and how New York just isn't the same as they remember it being twenty years ago. Dating Matt, you felt as if you where almost expected to be there.
Matt knew you didn't like parties, let alone ones as big as the events he would attend. Too many people where around, so many voices, and half the time the events are being held in a place 10 times the size of Matt's apartment. With every stark breath you take, he can feel your grip on his arm only grow tighter.
"Are you okay, sweetheart?" Matt lowers his head to your ear, whispering softly with the kindest voice he could wear. Many people are around talking loudly, yet Matt's voice managed to make full reign in your ears.
"Yeah." You say in a high pitch tone, turning your head to face him. "Yeah, I'm fine." You lied.
Matt could hear the spike in your heartrate with your words, making his hand lower from your back and move down to your waist. He turns around, guiding you with him as he leads you both to an empty hallway. Finally silent.
"What's wrong?" He questioned, his voice still soft. Caring. He moves his hands to your bicep as he slightly leans down so his face is in line with yours. "You don't need to lie to me, really. Whatever it is you can tell me."
You hesitate before speaking, turning your head in the direction of the party. "It's just... a lot of people." You face Matt again. "It's kinda overwhelming. I know it sounds stupid-"
Matt shakes his head, cutting his words in before you can even finish. "Don't say that, It's not stupid. I feel that way sometimes, so I know that it isn't fun to deal with." He stands up fully, taking his coat off as he places it around your shoulders. He knew that when he did that it tend to bring you some form of comfort, which you definitely needed now. "How about we go home? Does that sound okay?"
You nod slightly as Matt brings you close to his chest, wrapping both his arms around your body as he embraces you into a full hug. "I'm so sorry you feel this way, sweetheart. Next time just tell me, okay?"
You nod against his chest "Thank you, Matt." He presses a gentle kiss to the top of your head. He pulls back slightly, wrapping his arm around your waist as he keeps you close to his body.
He found Foggy and Karen within a few seconds, not even bothering to tell them why you both where leaving. He felt it wasn't his place to tell them what was going on, so he just said you both where getting tired and wanted to leave. Through his words, he gently squeezes your hand to reassure you that everything was okay.
The second you both made it back to the apartment, you make a b-line for the bedroom as you quickly slip out of your dress and get into something more comfortable. Throwing on one of Matt's shirts and sweatpants and taking off your makeup, you already start to feel better.
As you walk into the living room, Matt chuckles lightly as he hears the fabric of his clothes on your body. It was swallowing you completely.
He puts his arms out, doing grabby hands as you walk over to him, plopping down on his lap and hugging him like a sloth to a tree. He rubs his hands on your back, bringing your head to his shoulder as he leans back into the couch. The sound of the TV is playing softly as he does so.
"Are you feeling better, sweetheart?" He questions softly, his voice a sweet whisper. "I could make you some tea? That always seems to calm you down a bit."
"No it's okay." You slightly smile against his shoulder, feeling as his pulse rises with the feeling of your smile against him. "I'm feeling much better."
"Good." Matt says, moving so he is laying flat while you continue to rest on top of him. His hands comb through your hair, moving down from your hair to your back as he rubs it gently. "I'm proud of you for going tonight. You didn't have to and I know it was hard for you."
His words make you smile. "Thank you."
The rest of the night you both lay together, Matt keeping your body close to his. Matt listened as he felt your body fall asleep, leaving you asleep on his chest. He smiles softly as he combs his hands through your hair.
"I love you, sweetheart." He says, pressing a kiss to your head. "I love you so much."
That night you both fall asleep with each other as he whispers how much he loves you, along with reassurances that you where okay. Matt knew you had a hold on him. The man who loved everything about you. His sweetheart.
A/N- Sorry for this being so short, I've been busy with college and work so I at least wanted to get something out for you all <3
I hope you enjoyed this! Have a great day/night and stay safe everyone.
With love and a virtual hug,
Daisy :)
