A/N- Very short little blurb that I have been working on for too long lol.

This is based off a request I received a couple weeks ago, so to the person who asked for this, I hope you enjoy it <3

This will NOT have a happy ending. So if your in the mood for something light and airy I promise you, your gonna want to avoid this one for the day. I will try and get some more soft Matt out soon, but for now, deal with a nice little depressive angst one shot :)

Matt didn't know what to say.

Slowly and delicately as he listened to the voicemail over and over again, he felt the love pooling in his eyes drip away into anger. Into hate.

Matt had known for a while that something was up with you. From the way you would shutter at the words 'I love you' , or the way your heartrate would pound against your chest late at night when you couldn't sleep, he knew that you were hiding something from him. He just didn't think it was this.

Matt's ears opened as he heard the noise of the door creek open from the front of his apartment. His head cocked to the side, listening as you walked in the main room.

"I'm home, Matty." He heard you place your bag down on the kitchen table as you took your arms from your coat, folding the material over the seat. "I was thinking maybe tonight we can grab Thai food in celebration of that case you won yesterday-" You turned to face him, seeing the silver flip phone in his hand. His face was weak, his expression shattered. Instantly, you felt your heart drop to the floor.

"You where sent to kill me?" Matt's words where in the form of a question, but he already knew the answer. walking ever so slowly towards you; His voice was quiet, but his words where harsh enough to cut through glass.

You couldn't speak, feeling as if your entire chest had just been pulled together by rope and tied harshly against your skin. You watched as he shook his head, his brown chocolatey eyes filled with nothing but hurt.

"Matt, I can explain everything-"

"Answer my question." He interrupted. He listened to your heart beat faster then it ever had before. It was almost as if you where on the verge of a heart attack. "Where you sent to kill me, Y/n?"

You looked up at Matt as he stood in front of you, tears pooling the pocket of his eyes. "Yes." You nodded softly, "I was sent to kill you."

Matt took a step back, your words absolutely heartbreaking. His head became cloudy as your defensive words spurred from your mouth like rapid fire, yet the only thing he could hear is the words 'I was sent to kill you' all over again.

Your hands rushed to his face as tears glossed your stare. "Stick told me that I needed to kill you and I didn't want to, you need to trust me on that Matty-"

Matt reached up, grabbing your hand as he pulled it down from his face. "No." He shook his head. "No I don't trust you because for two fucking years you lied to me! You had me thinking that what we had was real, what we had was truthful! You lied to me, Y/n!"

This was a moment that you felt on the surface of your skin. Like scorching fire, rage and sadness inched up your back and along the edge of your clenched jaw. "It was real! It was very real, Matt!" You cried, hiccupped breaths moving against your lungs. "I need you to trust me, please I am begging of you, believe that I didn't want to do it."

Matt's fingertips moved to your face, lifting your head so you where facing him. His thumb grazed your cheek, but his hands had turned completely cold. "Tell me the truth," He paused, feeling your head fold completely into his hands with absolute sorrow. "When we met, was it fate?" He hated even having to admit the idea, "Or was it a set up?"
