You and Matt walked side by side, taxi's honking around you both as you maneuvered yourself past groups of people.

"Why would anyone ever want to live here?" Matt asked, looking around. "This place is a dump. Everyone is always mad at someone, it's always noisy, and it just...sucks."

You pulled your backpack up your shoulders as you kicked a stray pebble on the concrete.

"People think if they move here then that means they become famous." You said, "Or that's at least what my sister told me."

"I say as soon as me and you are old enough, we leave." Matt said, looking over at you. "Where do you want to go?"

You shrugged, "I don't know...I like California I guess." You looked at Matt, "Plus if we live there we can go to Disneyland everyday, and then after Disneyland we can go to the beach." You smiled.

"That does sound fun." Matt admitted, "Can we get a dog? I've always wanted a dog but my dad won't let me get one."

"And a fish." You nodded your head, "I want a fish."

"Having a fish and living on the beach is cruel." Matt laughed, "Your just showing the fish what they're missing out on."

"That's true." You pointed, your attention getting drawn away by the sight of a semi truck driving into the middle of the street. "Matt, I think we should move." You said panicked, stepping back as you walked towards the alleyway.

Matt stayed in the same spot on the concrete as he watched an elderly man cross the road. The man stood in the middle of the road, his face full of fear.
