Dinner Shocks Chap.2

you'd been In the royal library reading, but then you were called away as It was now dinner time, you went to go freshen up again In your bedroom before you left to the dining hall, you walked as Maharet followed not too far behind, and you soon made your way into the dining hall, your parents were at the table and all the golden lamps were lit within the room, giving It light

you went to go sit down In your usual seat, you noticed that your Father looked tired 

"Father, are you well? you look tired"

King Xavier turned, "oh, I'm alright my dear please don't worry, I'm a little wary from meeting with the Royal Army earlier"

you furrowed your brows, "the royal army, Is there trouble?"

"oh no, don't worry I was just watching the training of the new soldiers"

Queen Devika sighed, "good then, I was worried for a moment too as all has been peaceful, our kingdom has close ties to the Kingdoms of Liyue and Mondstadt"

the royal cooks soon emerged from the kitchens, and tonight's dinner was curry shrimp with rice, which was your favorite meal to have at dinner, "It looks Delicious"

King Xavier started, "you're now twenty-two years old, my good daughter, your Mother and I have been discussing this and we believe It's time for you to get married"

you were shocked, "married?"

"Yes dear, your father and I worry about you and we want you to have a suitable man who can protect you, we want to be assured"

you looked at your lap, "I understand, but this is so very sudden"

Queen Devika nodded, "It is, and we didn't want to push It on you at all, there aren't many princes but there's plenty of noblemen, we've already selected a suitable man"

King Xavier smiled, "Very good, I will tell him the reply and summon him to the palace at once so you can meet"

Queen Devika turned to you, "(Y/n), If you don't like this you can tell us"

you smiled, "I'm alright Mother, though shocked but I've thought about getting married sometimes"

"Alright, but be sure If you like him" she said 

you nodded In agreement, Maharet smiled and gave your shoulders a squeeze, you looked back to her with a smile in response, before you continued eating your curry shrimp, you really didn't expect this to come up during dinner tonight, but It made you wonder about General Mahamatra, what was he truly like and even what he looked like, you'd never seen him before and only heard tell of him by the other nobles, you started to get more and more curious.

It was after dinner and you'd returned to your bedroom, Maharet went to get your sleeping gown, you sat at your vanity as you took off your jewelry, and Maharet soon returned 

"oh, I'm so happy for you! you'll be marrying the great general"

you smiled a little, "Thank you, though this was unexpected"

she brought over a golden bowl, you dipped a cloth into the warm water as you then washed your face and removed your makeup, when finished Maharet took the bowl away and you started to take out your braid, setting the accessories onto the table, 

you then stopped, "Maharet, do you know what he's like"

"well my lady, from what I heard he's a fierce warrior and skilled leader, in terms of his personality some say he's cold, while others say he's very kindhearted but hides It"

you nodded, "oh, I see"

she came and combed out your hair, "I think you'll like him, and he may prove to be a good husband"

Maharet smiled, "that'd be wonderful"

she soon finished, and you stood up as you went to go change into your night dress, Maharet came and fluffed the pillows on your bed, you soon returned and sat down on the bed

Maharet smiled, "Of course you will, don't worry"

she gave your shoulder a pat, you then nodded as you got into the bed, bringing the blanket over yourself as Maharet went to go snuff out the lanterns, "Get some sleep my lady"

Maharet soon finished and left, you turned over in the bed, looking out the window as you looked to the crescent moon in the sky.
