Alec was already on the bed when he heard a knock on his door, he turned his head smiling at the person standing, more of leaning against it. "Busy day." He mentioned, Alec nodded before raising himself on his bed and plopped his bed next to him. "Join me."Jace smiled before he climbed on the bed and lay next to his brother, it's been a while since they both talked to each other just the both of them.
"How are you holding up?" Alec asked, he could hear him sighed before his gaze went back to Alec. "Fine I guess." His voice is low and not convincing Alec enough. "Jace, thank you." Alec began. It made Jace turned his head fast enough to make him spin, but his expression is more concern. "What for?"
"For everything. Mum told me that you helped with the expenses although it's your money and I intend to pay it back once I'm back on my feet." Jace chuckled at the thought before he continued.
"I don't suppose you're gonna start pole dancing now are you?" Alec snickered a laughed behind the idea and smacked Jace's shoulder with his four finger. "I don't want anything in return brother, just you. Promise me that you'll keep fighting for this life. After all people don't get second chances as much as you."
Ale sighed a long sigh before he lay back on his pillow while crossing his right arm behind his head and his left rubbing his chest, feeling the scar underneath his shirt. "I never thought I would get out from that island you know." Jace listened to his words patiently waiting for the next.
"There isn't a time on the island that I haven't thought of you guys. Every single piece of that island reminds me of how littlest time I had and I don't have enough memory of our family. I always think that if I died there, I won't be able to tell you guys how much I love you, or how sorry I am for destroying our family and our vacation, but I hold on. I had too."
Jace could see how Alec began to tear up on his thoughts and wonder if he should say anything. He knew no matter what he say or did, it won't change the fact that Alec was right. He too thought of the same thing.
"You know when you were lost, I never seen our family falling apart more that we already were before. You kept saying that you are the reason our family destroyed but the only thing that kept this family together was actually you." Alec looked up to Jace's eyes with his teary one and couldn't help but afflicted a smile.
"When you were lost, mum and dad fights literally everyday. All the same shit. I always thought that either they get a divorce or end up killing each other." Alec had to smile knowing how their parents bickered and always end up forgiving each other
"Mum never give up on looking and dad wanted to do the same. But if both of them were out there looking for you, who would take care of us. I guess that's where dad drew a line. Either you or us." Jace had to stop before continued, he knew Alec would have felt worse by now.
"Dad had to put the hammer down, he even said that he doesn't want to hold on to false hope. Instead of out there and looking for something may or may not exist, he rather focus on the one he already had here, with us. Mum was furious and she blamed dad for giving up. Little did she know that dad did everything he can to stay sane while taking care of us."
Alec held his tears thinking on how his father might have dealt with his siblings while mum was gone. He remembers how he has to take care four of them when mum was on a case trial and had to leave them for few nights, he was miserable. He even gave up few times and called mum to come back but every time he did, he would kept silence and wishes mum the best of luck on her case.
"He even called your name few times. By mistake of course, he alway called us for dinner and mentioned me to get you. At first I was clueless but after few times, I ignored it. I know that's the way he heals."
