Truth is no one is prepared for what's coming. No one is ready for their own death and no one ever ready for their own birth either. Fate is destined but the future is not precise either. It doesn't matter whatever future holds for Alec or even he himself, Magnus would never gave up on his last minute with him.

He hold grudges on his father for wasting his time being held as hostages and if it wasn't for Anna, he won't be able to see Alec ever again.

As soon as he stepped into the hospital, he literally sprint towards Alec's chamber which is in the cardiac intensive unit or they called it the CCU. The moment he did, all of the Lightwood including the smallest one is there pacing around talking to each other.

Jace was the first to notice him and stood in stunt silence. Only when Magnus steps closer to them he spoke. "Finally. About time you came." He said patting him on his shoulder. He looked back and forth from his hand to his face and confused with his sudden friendly gesture.

"I heard what you did. Thank you for taking care of my brother." He couldn't hold on to his tears and went for a hug instead. Isabelle stood next to him and as soon as Jace released, she went for her hug.

"Thank you for making him happy." She whispered in his ears which raises more question than answers.

"Why are guys talking like this? He's not gone yet. He's still with us. Why are you guys giving up already?" He asked concerned clearly plastered on his face. Tears started to brim around the edge of his lid but he held them in.

"You should go see him." Maryse spoke and opened the door for him.

He stood and stare at the opened door not knowing whether or not he should go in. If he stepped in, there's no going back, it's now or never.

He took a long inhale and exhale before he step his foot inside the cold room.

The sound of heart monitor beeping, oxygen valve echoing in the room. The light were dim, it was already passed six and the only light that was on is around Alec's bed. He walked slowly and carefully seeing his image getting cleared as soon as he is closer.

He saw his dearest Alexander, laying on the bed, pale but handsome as hell. Tubes were coming out from his nose and taped to the side of his cheek. Oxygen mask were applied on top of his face and his breathing is more slower than he usually did. God knows how he feels right now, the aching feeling in his chest continues to burn it's way in.

He sat close to his side and wrapped his arm around Alec's side, pulling the blanket closer to his chest. He saw how he stirred in his sleep so he raised his bandaged hand towards his cheek.

Cold was the only thing he could express right now. Everything is cold about Alec. No longer the warmth but everything he touches it's too cold for him. He felt tears started to comes in but he held it in, trying to stay as strong as he could for Alec.

Alec's eyes slowly flutters to open and his long eyelashes batting away to see it clearer. He slowly pulled away the oxygen mask he had on and Magnus tried to stop him. "No, no sweetheart, keep it on. It'll help you breathe."

Alec smiled still pulling it away from his face, "Hai." His voice croaked and almost a whispers. He needed to remove the mask or Magnus won't be able to hear him. "Hai." Magnus couldn't help to control his tears and it's just pouring out of him. He leaned to kiss his forehead, Alec's cold skin felt warmth under his trembling lips.

He cupped Alec's cheek and later gave him a kiss on his lips not bothering the whole family are started to join behind him.

Alec pulls away and his hands wanders around Magnus, trying to make himself believe that this wasn't one of his dreams. Magnus is real and he is right in front of him. He palmed his watery cheeks and wiped the tears away before his hand wanders to his neck and his chest feeling his heart pumping twice as faster than usual.
