A/N: Hello loves, so an early update today.

In the previous chapter,

Imlie visits the Rathores and meets her mother-in-law who appears to be the matriarch of the family. Narmada Rathore is observing her transformed daughter-in-law like a hawk, testing her over and over again. Imlie manages to stand up to the scrutiny until Narmada Rathore brings up Aryan and his loneliness.

A distraught Imlie leaves the dining table in search of a quiet spot and a bit of air to breakdown in private.

Ab aage.....

Today's song is going to be your first hatke song of this story. The beautiful composition is Imlie's choice and linked appropriately in the chapter.

Chapter 17

"Madhu!!" Veer called out to his daughter as she rushed out.

He bent his head down and stared at his breakfast, then pushed away from the table ready to go find her.

"Veerji, please wait." Narmada stood up.

She saw him glance up at her.

"I'll bring her back. Perhaps I was too harsh on her."

Veer bit back a retort.

His daughter had hurt many people in the past. Her relationship with her mother-in-law was a case in point, he thought as he watched Narmada Rathore leave the dining area.

****************************

Narmada stepped out into the garden and her wise eyes observing the young girl on her knees, sobbing.

"Tell me Aryan, how am I supposed to live without you?" The girl whispered in anguish.

This could not be the same girl who had treated their family so callously, devastated her son with her actions.

Was this just remorse? No, there was more to it than met the eye. It was as if the appearance was the same but the girl inside was different.

Narmada stepped forward and touched her shoulder.

She felt Madhu freeze and quickly dash her tears with her hands, wiping them down on her dress.

"I'm sorry..." Madhu stood up and pushed her hair out of her face.

"I didn't mean to..." She looked around herself and gestured to the garden. "This is beautiful."
