Chapter 21

Friday afternoon...

"Madhu..." Veer called her name patiently, uncrossing his knees and setting down the newspaper he'd been reading, or rather pretending to read for the past half an hour while his daughter stared blankly at the same page in her book for the same amount of time.

He'd decided to come home early to surprise her with good news and found her moping around instead. 

Again. 

Silently, he'd retreated to his room, changed and returned downstairs finally finding her in the library. He'd slipped into a comfortable chair, across the room and begun his pretense of reading a newspaper while observing her.
