Previously,

They'd all lost so much that night.

Madhu had lost her life.

Veer had lost his daughter and his grandchild but didn't know of the circumstances until now.

Aryan had found out he'd lost his child. Then he'd helplessly watched Imlie die. He'd already lost Madhu, or so he'd thought until the cops called out that she was alive. What a twist of fate?

Divine intervention or providence? But in an exchange of energies, Madhu had left, Imlie had stayed and no one was the wiser for what had transpired in those minutes.

And Imlie. She had lost her body, the only life she'd known to take on a new one. A foreign life, where she had no memory of the past of the woman whose body she now owned. No idea that she was ardently hated by her "husband".

Yes, she'd seen a lot of hardships in her young life. Only 22 at the time of the accident. That was perhaps crucial to their mission of returning what was rightfully hers.

Now he had to find a way to rectify the wrongs done to her.

"I'll figure it out, Dad. And I'll keep you in the loop. We are turning into the airport entrance though, so I have to go."

He brought the car to a halt near where her flight was listed on the board outside the airport.

"Of course. I'll be waiting to hear from you. Leave no stone unturned and spare no expense. We do this together. For our Imlie, right?"

"Yes. For our ......Imlie." Aryan murmured softly.

Chapter 48

Aryan ran the backs of his fingers gently over her cheek, "Dad?"

Imlie began stirring awake and Aryan hastened to say what he needed to.

"I won't be visiting Delhi until a couple days before the wedding. There is much work pending. But.....watch over her for me."

Veer chuckled softly.

"Ah, my son, she's grabbed your heart too, hasn't she? Don't you worry. She will always be my daughter and so I will always watch over her. Even after I return her to you to care for the rest of your lives."

Aryan smiled at the veiled warning.

"Goodnight, Dad."

"Goodnight, Aryan."

Aryan watched as Imlie rubbed a hand over her eyes.

"Are we at the airport?" She stifled a yawn.

"Yes. You need to shake off that drowsiness." His lips curved when she sluggishly reached for her tote and sighed.
