Chapter 29

"Are you going to stay holed up in that bathroom for the rest of the night?" Aryan propped his shoulder against the doorframe and asked.

Imlie stared at herself in the mirror and then down at her upturned palms. Mehendi for her engagement to Aryan tomorrow. This was really happening.

Was it just yesterday evening that she'd been walking with Aneesh wondering what life had in store for her? Uncertain of her future without Aryan.

Then he'd breezed back into her life. She'd  boldly asked him to marry her.

One month. They had one month to get to know each other. One month of snatched moments together.

She was not his wife and most certainly not Madhulika. A fact that he had still not admitted. And yet, here they were, sharing a room, and tonight a bed. She gulped.

They'd spent a whole day together. Tentatively seeking each other out. At times their silences felt hesitant and awkward but then there were times when she felt connected to him even in the quiet.

How uncanny? For him to pick the exact dessert she'd been thinking about moments earlier. That knowing smile when her eyes had met his during her drool-over-my-man session.

He'd proceeded to feed her every bite of that dessert. And when she'd been certain he was going to kiss her again, he'd simply whispered a soft warning in her ear. An interrogation. Knowing him.....

"I can pick a lock you know?" He startled her out of her reverie.

They'd slept in the same bed before. But she'd always woken up to his presence. Not actually gotten into bed with him, awake and fully aware.

She couldn't do it. Not after the way he had touched and kissed her yesterday. The way he'd been looking at her since he'd shown up at Singhania Mansion. Like she belonged to him, like he had a right to her.

And certainly not after the way he'd been watching her this entire evening. He was up to something. So far, he had been proper all day. But instinct told her, he'd simply been biding his time.

"Are you alright?" His voice now sounded concerned. "Just say.... something."

She couldn't stay in here all night either.

Just face him and try to tell him your problem with getting intimate with him. Maybe he will stick to his word. Imp sighed.
