Previously,

"Why so sad, darling?"

"It's Aryan, isn't it?"

"Dadda, please..." She shook her head and pleaded with him, not wanting to talk about it.

"Oh, my love. You can try to hide it but it's there for all to see. I didn't know you wore your heart on your sleeve."

"Dadda. Will it go away someday?" She tilted her head and met his eyes with a wistful gaze.

"What, my love?"

"This ache, this loneliness, this......emptiness?"

Veer sighed. No my love, it never really goes away. We just learn to fill it with other things. It doesn't work though.

He leaned back and let her curl up to him. These were things they should have done when she was younger. Had heart to hearts. Cuddled together. Spent silences together.

Lost opportunities. But the universe had given them a chance to make it right.

He put his other arm around her.

Now, how was he supposed to heal her heart? Because the only solution to this problem seemed to be Aryan. Had he even made an attempt to check on his wife?

Or was he so bitter still that he no longer cared even one iota for this sweet child?

Aankhon mein tere saaye

(With your shadow/image in my eyes)

Chahoon to ho na paaye, aadon se teri faasla

(I cannot distance myself from your memories, even if I wish to)

Jaake bhi tu na jaaye

(Even when you leave, you remain)

Thehra tu dil mein haaye, hasrat sa banke kyun bhala

(You stay in my heart like an unfulfilled desire)

Kyun yaad karti hun

(Why do I remember you)

Mitati hun banti hun
