"I still ....cannot believe any of this....Imlie being Madhu business. What if she's pulling one on you? Remember how she hates you? Maybe this is a long game, she's playing!"

Aryan shook his head slowly. The longing in her eyes. The ardency in her voice the night she asked him to marry her.

"You've known my Maa since we were kids."

"And your Maa is the sharpest pencil in the box, Aryan. She'd see through deception in a minute."

"Right? Well she believes Imlie."

Sheel slowly whistled in awe.

"Well, I'll be damned. Either Madhu is going to win an Oscar for her performance, or ....."

"Or I....no, WE.....have been given a second chance, Manjeera. Imlie at life and me at love."

Chapter 35

That night at the dinner table....

"So how long have you had this house in your family, Mr. Godbole." Manjeera asked casually.

"Since my father bought it in the 1960s, Madam."

"So you inherited this from your father?"

Mr. Godbole's smile faded slowly and his eyes glinted darkly behind the thick lenses of his glasses, for a fleeting moment before he flashed his teeth again.

"Yes, my father. Then me."

"You, Mr. Godbole, are so lucky to have inherited this absolute gem along the coastline. Are you an only child?" Manjeera popped a pakora in her mouth and dusted off her hands.

"I had a brother."

"Had?"' Manjeera frowned.

"He died."

"Oh I'm so sorry." Manjeera looked appropriately saddened.

"It's okay. But did you know, not far from here.... in Rajapur we own a large mango orchard also. Next time come here in summer time. We harvest a lot of good mangoes." Vishwanath smoothly steered the topic away from his family.

Aryan leaned back in his chair. According to his mother's file, Sagar Kinara had been passed on to Imlie's father by his father. Had Imlie's father made a will, passing the inheritance on to her uncle?
