Glass Promises

What's that you say? You promise you'll stay?

Oh how many times I've heard that lie

I'll sit back, and watch your glass promise give way

And watch our friendship shrivel and die

You didn't mean to cause me pain nor distress you plead

You think what we have is real? Well that's a sick joke

You only want me here to satisfy your own evil greed

And once you're finished, you'll breathe me out like cigarette smoke

Promises break just like glass, they both shatter

I want to flee the wreckage, but you have me held by a tether

People break them all the time, it doesn't matter

But let me tell you that unlike glass, people can't be put back together

Walking away you seemed complete, but let's be honest

You are just as broken as a glass promise
